I live with my husband in Utah. We have been doing family history for a number of years. My mother's people, Howard - Collins - Montgomery - Craig came from Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky and England. My father's people, Hudson - Cain - McClung - Kuykendall came from Alabama - Mississippi - and California.
RE: Myrtle Maude Hudson # 103433432 wish i had that book.....i have one of the Chickasaw books and use it to link people together and also to add people to cemeteries...but last i heard about the book it was 50 dollars...and if there is a NEW one..i am sure it will be higher....but i was able to get a photo book that they put out one year....
PS...hope i do get to meet you when you come this way..there is so much history about this area....as in Palo Alto....it use to be in Chickasaw county at one time.
RE: Myrtle Maude Hudson # 103433432 First off......the paper that i got her obit from, only goes back, in their office, to 1930.....that is as far back as i could go.. Her obit was in the Houston, Miss., paper, and i dont know if it would have been in West Point's paper...i would really have to go and see how far back theirs goes.
I have moved back to West Point and have been back here a little over a year, but when i went to the newspaper here they were not very friendly, so i did not even talk much to them. the Times Post allowed me to bring the newspaper books home so i could retype the obits out, but i guess the paper here does not trust me.
i also have not even went into the genealogy room here at the library since i have been back. and do look forward to going there for any length of time either...Since i have been in West Point, i just have not had the energy to do anything like i did when i was in Chickasaw County. I lived in Van Vleet which is a small town that was between Okolona and Houston, so i sort of fit right in in both towns.
Anyway sorry i am not more help to you than i am. maybe one day i will get back into it.
When adding your mother Hi Arletta - When adding your mother, at the bottom of the 'add a record' page you can change it from a cemetery burial to "other". Click to the next page and you'll see the button for burial at sea. Have a great experience on Findagrave. Joe
