I am in Washington County RI. Have been researching my family tree only for a few years, obviously still an amateur. |
I quickly discovered that the further back in time one researches, the photos of ancestors become more rare and treasured. Sometimes a grave marker is all that can be found. I find it very rewarding to help keep the history and the memories of our ancestors alive.

Tobias Saunders is buried at Clark Ground.
There are 3 round looking markers there. Four people or buried here.. Is one of those round markers Tobias? If so which one is his if you know,I requested a photo but never go any reponse.Thank you for all the work you put in on this. Sure helps someone that lives in Texas.
Is your friend's name from Sweden Hans? This is starting to ring a bell!
Well, this is embarrassing. I see I posted that memorial 5 years ago. I can't find John in any of my trees, and have no memory of him. Maybe I was helping someone else out? Sorry I can't help.
I need some help finding the John Swanson you wrote me about. Please send the memorial #.
|Judy Mount||Anna and Ebenezer Billings|
Stephen, I want to thank you for these beautiful photos of the Billings' headstones. I know after over 275 they are not in good shape but your photos are beautiful. I am hoping Ebenezer is my connection as I can find no others. The last Billings I can trace in my line is Thomas J. Billings b 1833 Tn. Could be John Thomas Billings. He is in the 1860 census with wife Mary Jane Pate and 1 yr old daughter in Hardin Co. Tn. He was a Unionist to our great surprise since all of his family were Confederates. I assume he wanted to keep the union together. The price of fighting for the north when you lived in the south was tooooooo great a price to pay. And vice versa. Thomas was killed in Aug 1863 in Tucumbia, Al in a skirmish with the Confederates. If you happen to have any info on him please let me know. Merry Christmas to you and your family. J Billings Mount

Thanks for your efforts, Stephen, especially finding out that no stone has ever been placed.
