|Ralph Satterfield||Obit search|
If I were looking for an obit, I would search Ancestry.com., assuming that you are a subscriber. I am not currently subscribed, or I would look for you. In lieu of that, I would look for obits in a local newspaper in the area that he died, or where he was buried. In this instance I would do an on line search for "Simpson Daily Leader Times". That was the name of the Kittanning newspaper at the time of his death. I did a quick search, and it looks as though there are some obits available at a reasonable cost.
Good luck in your search...

|Ralph Satterfield||Relationship question|
I questioned that comment also. I suspect that it was the result of there being two memorials for Thomas, yours at Hillcrest and mine at Kittanning, and the method that Find A Grave employs to calculate relationships. When the Hillcrest memorial was deleted, it appears that the "half sibling" comment was removed also.
I also noticed that the memorial for Charles Clyde Hart, Sr. (106671737) does not have a link to his father, Thomas, at Kittanning. I have requested that correction via the Edit Tab.
Hopefully, everything will be correct now.
|Ralph Satterfield||Hart's at Kittanning Cemetery|
Thomas M. Hart, his wife Susannah M. and their daughter, Mary are all buried at plot H81 in the Kittanning Cemetery, according to cemetery records. Susannah's grave is the only one with a headstone. Today I created memorials for Thomas and Mary and posted them on Find A Grave, along with photos showing their proximity to Susannah's grave. Records indicate that Thomas died in or near Buffalo NY, but is indeed buried at Kittanning. I believe that the Find A Grave memorial that you created for him at Hillcrest Cemetery at Hamburg NY is incorrect, and should be deleted, especially since there is no record of his burial there.
Please contact me if I may be of further assistance, or if you would like me to transfer the management of their memorials to you.

Hillcrest had no record of him when I contacted the office. If it was unmarked, they would at least have plot info (have had that happen in the past so know it is true - they walked me to the location with no stone). I suggest you contact the Hillcrest office (716-649-8338) with the info you have pointing you to this cemetery and you may get further than those who have tried to look for this grave. If they provide any additional info, we'd be happy to go look again and photograph. Sorry this one is troublesome. Is there a possibility he is in another cemetery here in the Hamburg or Buffalo area? Any chance you can contact the funeral home through which he was buried? They keep records, too.

I have two photos. One is the monument with both Charles and Mildred's names, the other the flat marker provided by the armed forces containing his service information. Which would you prefer? If you would like to see them both I can send the pictures to you by email.
|Ralph Satterfield||RE: Harts|
I'm a little confused. Just which of the Hart's in Kittanning Cemetery are you refering to? There are eight Hart graves there, including two Marys. Mary Hart ?-?, who is the daughter of Thomas and Susannah Hart,(no spouse named)and Mary Ethel, 1916-1988. Mary Ethel was the daughter of George S. Hart and Mona (Ruffner) Hart. Mary Ethel's spouse was Raymond George Slifko. As I recall, the grave of Mary Hart ?-? did not have a headstone.
|Ralph Satterfield||RE: Mary Hart|
Sorry that we could not find her for you. Apparently she doesn't have a headstone....
