I have been tracing my husband's family history and my own for 30 years and in 2009 a few of the Medley relatives were able to take over the care and upkeep of Sunny Side Cemetery in Jefferson County, Missouri. There are approximately 15-20 Medley relatives buried at Sunnyside as well as many others, about 82 total. This neglected cemetery was of need of major restoration and in the past few years our group has been able to clear some of the trees and overgrowth, put new rock on the driveway, and haul away trash that was dumped there for many years. School volunteers help us every spring removing leaves, etc. A new monument with Sunny Side Cemetery name was donated to the cemetery, replacing an old wooden marker. Hopefully, we will be able to preserve this cemetery for many years to come. Unfortunately, we were too late for Robertson Cemetery, that was vandalized about 2008.

Clara (Tharp) Gould Mem. 83794962
I may be a little slow, but I eventually get there! Just saw your father's memorial. Now I know the connection. Your dad is Clara's stepbrother. So, you and my husband aren't really relatives, but in my opinion you still are. What a sad, yet beautiful story Clara's family's life was. To her, my husband's great grandmother was the only mother she ever knew and his grandmother, Alta, was probably more of a sister to her than an aunt.
I would be very interested in talking to you more about these folks at your convenience.
We live in Republic, MO, and have friends and relatives in the St. Louis area, if that is where you are. Will be coming to St. Louis in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again,
Roxie (Eaton) Sharpe

Clara (Tharp) Gould Mem. 83794962
I noticed you posted flowers on this memorial stating she was a "sweet aunt." My husband is Clara's 1C1R and I am looking for any photos or further information I can get on her and her parents and grandparents.
Here is what I have so far:
Father: Elihu S. Tharp 10/12/1878-04/24/1924
Mother: Mary (Duren) Elizabeth Singleton 03/20/1888-02/11/1918
Grandfather: Augustus Whitaker Tharp 1856-1905
Grandmother: Elizabeth "Eliza" (Graham) 1856-1911
I also have her aunts and uncles and many pictures.
I would love to connect my husband's branch to yours.
Please let me know how you are Clara's niece so we can further complete his family tree.
Thank you,
Roxie (Eaton) Sharpe
P.S. My husband:
Harvey Don Sharpe.
Mother, Ellen Arizona (Scrivner) Sharpe - Clara's 1st cousin
Grandmother: Alta Lee (Tharp) Scrivner - Elihu's sister
Grandparents: same as Clara

George W. Medley. I wondered if your husband was a descendant.

I'm curious if you are related to this man? I was married to and have 4 children by his great grandson, George O., also buried there. We were divorced, but I still do research for my children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren.

RE: Macedonia Cemetery
Worked it from tn-roots.com site for Gibson County - guess I should have paid attention to the notice at the top of the listing - "This cemetery is in Obion County"

Elihu S Tharp / Mary Elizabeth Duren Singleton
I am researching my husband's family lines and have more information regarding Elihu S. Tharp. My husband's grandmother is Elihu's sister, Alta Lee Graham Tharp (1896-1976).. I also have a photo (cir. 1910) of Elihu's mother with two of his sisters (Lillie E. Tharp 1893-?) and Alta along with a granddaughter of Eliza's (I'm wondering if this 10 yr old granddaughter could be Elihu's daughter from his first marriage?).
You may want to include Elihu's parents in this listing (or any other info. you feel might be important):
Father: Augustus Whitaker Tharp: b. Oct. 1856, Perry Co., TN d. 1901-1910 in Clay Co., Brown, AR
Mother: Elizabeth "Eliza" Green Graham b. Sept. 1856, Perry Co. TN d. Clay Co., AR?

The 1910 US Fed Census for Clay Co., Brown Township, Arkansas shows Eliza as "widowed" with 2 daughters and a granddaughter (10 yrs old) living with her. I believe these are the females in the photo mentioned earlier.

I would like more information regarding Elihu's first marriage, if possible. I need his first wife's name and any children they may have had. Also, I am trying to find his mother's parents, but I understand that records before 1908 in TN are pretty much non-existent.

Thank you,
Roxie

Richard Fred Medley
Brenda;

I was working in Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs Missouri and noticed you were maintaining Richards wife so after I got Richard done I transferred him to you. It may need some refining.

I was also looking for Trace Creek. I found who I was looking for at Dabbs Cemetery at Trace Creek. I searched but did not see your people online at Lewis County Cemetery website. It would be unusual to only have two people at this cemetery. The death certificate I was looking also said Trace Creek. There are other Tatums at this cemetery. Just a thought.........Kathy
