Hello Little One, I pray all is well..
|Kenneth Hudson||Billy Stegall|
I finally found out what you were asking about when you inquired about the number of children Billy had ... I had copied some lines from a K.C. news article some time back and placed in the memorial flowers (in quotes) << -- "On May 5, 2005, the news conference announcing the I.D. of Precious Doe had just ended. The crowd drifted away. But a man wearing a Vietnam Veterans cap over his gray hair lingered before the renderings of the little girl. Billy Stegall, father of five, grandfather of seven, felt compelled to come. His life changed that day in 2001 when he found Precious Doe's head in the woods." -- >>> Remembering Billy Stegall with a smile --- KWH I can see where it might cause confusion if inaccurate -- Kenneth Hudson
|Corey Stegall||Your Legacy Lives On|
You proved to be such a remarkable Man. You were gifted with so many awesome attributes that I admire: leadership, responsibility, perseverance, determination dependability & commitment.
History: The Stegall family (grandma and the 10 children) relocated from Newnan to Atlanta (English Ave.) in 1964. My Moma relocated from Thomaston to Atlanta (English Ave.) to live with Aunt Dot in 1967. You meet my Moma, married her and took care of my eldest sister. Next, your union produced Donna, Junior (Billy Howard Stegall, Jr.—your name sake) and finally me in 1973. Long history story short, you joined the military at a young age and was off to fight for the country during wars throughout this process (Vietnam and Korean tours of duty). You and Moma divorced while I was a very young, however, your impact on our lives never faltered. You also made it clear to everyone that you loved my Moma and that you would always be a call away.
Treasured memories: Every time you came home to Georgia, you made it clear that we were the Apple's of your eye. You clearly adored Donna and she was your Princess!!!!! You showed us off to everyone that would listen and later in life we returned the favor by being there when you faced medical complications (agent orange exposure and cancer) that eventually ended your time on earth. As an adult, I found the nerves to ask you what happened to you and my Moma and you told me "what happened between your mom and I is non of your concern". You made it clear that all I needed to know was that both of you loved us. I was so proud to have you attend my wedding in 2001. The look on your face as you proudly watched your baby boy marry his college sweetheart was priceless.
Update since your departure from Earth: Kim and I had another beautiful daughter in 2007; Donna got married in Jamaica in 2008, got pregnant on the honeymoon and gave birth to your handsome grandson in March of 2009. Donna and I started our Doctor of Education program in July of 2011 and should be completed in 2014. Jr.'s oldest daughter graduated from High School with honors this past summer. Finally, as of July 1, 2012, I ‘ve been promoted to a building level elementary principal.
We miss you dearly and are so very proud to have your bloodline running through our veins. Thank you for being exactly who God made you to be and for that we are eternally grateful.

|Kenneth Hudson||RE: Looking for info|
No, I did not know Billy H. Stegall personally. (??? Not sure of the statement about 5 children ??? ). I first learned of Mr. Stegall when watching the Precious Doe case broadcast and noted later that Mr. Bern O. had made a memorial to Mr. Stegall on this site after his death. I emailed Mr. Bern O. and told him that Billy might be the man who helped identify Erica with his prayers and patience. Mr. Bern O. then edited the memorial accordingly. I cut the pictures of Billy out of the Cold Case Files episode and posted them. I had first learned of Billy's death in 2009 when I visited Kansas City to visit the dedication of the Precious Doe Park. - Thanks for your email, and may your dad rest in peace. I thank him for his service to America as well. You may email me at firstname.lastname@example.org ...

Sarah, In the summer I'm searching for headstones in the heat until I think I'm gonna pass out; in the winter I wade through snow up to my knees in 16 degree weather. I tell myself, You're getting too old to be doing this ! ......YOU are the reason that I do this. It's comments like yours that touch my heart and is more appreciated than you'll ever know. A wonderful volunteer once took a photo of my brother's headstone and I know exactly how it made you feel. God willing, as long as I'm physically able to fulfill photo requests, I'll be remembering you, your comments, and how "complete" you made me feel. God Bless you and your dad.

Welcome to F.A.G site! I'm so happy that you were able to find your Dad. He was an incredible, honorable man...

Sarah, I took the photos for you but Kenneth Hudson, who posted the pictures of your father, has put them on so they go before any others so you have to go to the second page to see the headstone. If you get a transfer to your name, you can rearrange so the headstone will be on the 1st page, along with his photo.

Sarah, Welcome to FindaGrave! I remember the Precious Doe death and seeing your dad on TV. He was a wonderful, caring man. You should do an "edit" to maintain his memorial. Just go to his memorial, click on the "edit" tab at the upper right corner, and request a transfer of his memorial to you as his daughter. Also, give your FindaGrave member number which is beside your name on your profile page. If I can be of any help to you or answer any questions, please let me know. I will be out in the few couple of days to get your photo.
