I LOVE cemeteries~~the older the better~~I used to do this with my gram, walk through cemeteries, with her telling me about the "old" days, old stories, old relatives, old traditions, MEMORIES of the past.

I am an archeology student and respect the past.
There are so many old stones that no one visits, no one remembers, no one cares for.
I try to copy pics of broken ones, destroyed ones, ones ready to fall.........and notify Historical societies and/or relatives to atleast let them know of their condition..Sometimes relatives step in and fix/replace them, occasionally a historical society does something for them.............but atleast a photo keeps that place in history for them for the family.

If you need a pic.......please let me know.

Charles Baynum

I found and took a photo of Charles Baynum's headstone in the Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Lewes this morning.

Thanks for the tip.

Have a great day!

RE: charles baynum

Thanks! Mystery solved! I've looked at the "People's Cemetery" on Rt. 1 several times for Charles. I also looked up and down Hudson Road near the black church for their cemetery, which I could never find. I'll take a ride tomorrow to Lewes and look for him.

I am new but I did look them up and it said, they were not on the list. Sorry but I even tried take them off and that wouldn't work. Diane

Thanks for telling me about Oddfellows cemetery in Milford, DE. We were just in Delaware ancestor worshipping, but did not make it to Milford. Thanks for the offer of help, even if I am late in thanking you.

RE: deputy cemetery
Thanks so much for the info Gwen! A lot of the information I have is from my grandmother's search and some of the cemeteries dont exist anymore or have changed names. Any help is appreciated since it's hard for me to get down there to hunt myself.
Have a great summer!

RE: Chalking
I think I know the photos you are talking about and I believe they have been removed. We, of course, can't do anything to actually prevent it, but we try to discourage it by removing the photos when we find them. If you know of more, please provide links to the images and we'll remove them, too.
