RE: Joseph and Elizabeth Davis
Hi Delyth.... So sorry it's taken me such a long time to return your inquiry... I have just been very busy, and email correspondence has been tough to catch up with...

I have not been back to the Southside Cemetery since I last spoke with you, as it is somewhat of a distance from where I reside... I do have a friend that lives out that way, who I visit a couple of times each year... That is usually when I do my research there....

I can tell you that the Evans family mentioned in your last inquiry (Margaret, Thomas, Elenor & John Ivor) are burried side by side in separate graves. It is ideal to have immediate family members together in a "family" plot, but it is not always the case... It is most common to be burried side by side as opposed to one on top of another... Unfortunately, there are many markers that are so old that they have disintegrated over time... Also, some were burried with no marker at all...

Southside Cemetery is very large, with a least a couple of thousand burials... There is an office there, but it has been closed every time I have visited...

I don't believe that there is one particular webpage for that cemetery, but here are a few links that may be helpful:

http://www.aftercareplanning.com/south-side-cemetery/

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~njm1/southside-02.htm

I am not sure of the death register that you spoke of in your last message... If there is a book of burrials, then it most likely resides in the Cemetery Office... Much of the information that I put on Find A Grave is gathered from the headstone itself...

(Unless it is a direct relation to me then I usually have a bit more information that I can add...)

Anyway.... I'm sorry that I can't be of more help at this time... I will retain your requests, though, in hopes of uncovering more information for you, the next time I am out in the direction of South Side Cemetery....

Sincerely, Mark

Hi Delyth... I see that you now have a membership to Find A Grave, so I thought I'd start you on your way by transferring the memorials that I created for your ancestors over to your care, just in case you had more information to add...
Cheers... Mark
