| Bio and Links | | I have always been very interested in family history. The older I get, the more interested I become and I finally find myself with some extra time to be able to sit and do some research! Specifically, I am interested in the Box/Holland families located mainly in MS. It seems that most of these relatives were from the Mississippi Delta, more specifically from the Leflore county area and also from the Webster County area. I would love to hear about any possible family members and would be glad to help others with their search, if I am able! | |

 | Box family Hi Holli I am researching the box family, I am connected through the holland side, you have taken some photos of their headstones and I was wondering if I could use them on my ancestry. I live in Calif and it is hard right now to travel to the cemeteries.
Thank you for your time SandiAdded by Sandi on Apr 02, 2012 2:46 PM | | | Patricia Dacus
 | George E Box George Emmett Box buried in Milligan Springs Cemetery in Webster County, MS was the son of John and Mary Susan Pyron Box. He married Lena Belle Bradford. Their children were Christine, who died at an early age, James Emmett, and Opal. George Emmett served as sheriff of Montgomery County, MS during WWII and subsequently served as Marshal and Mayor, respectively, of Winona MS,
George's parents, John and Mary Susan, were reared in the Greensboro community of Choctaw and Montgomery Counties, and were early settlers in Stewart, MS. Both John and Mary Susan are buried in Sarepta Cemetery north of Stewart. John was a landowner and a farmer whose most outstanding and distinguishing characteristic was a kind and lovable disposition. He was a man of great wit and humor. Mary Susan Pyron Box was one of fourteen children born to Michael Pyron and his wife Tabitha Taylor. John and Mary Susan had six children: 1)Laura who married John Fairfax Castle, 2)John Leslie who married Lemmie Holland, 3) William "Willie" who married Paralee Pittman (they moved to California), 4) Oscar Wooley who married Mary Lela Scott, 5) Floyd who married Dolly Henderson and after her death Zora Daugherty, and 6) George Emmett who married Lena Belle Brfadford.
This information was submitted to "The History of Montgomery County" by Wooley D. Box, the son of Oscar Wooley. | | | Portia Solomon
