I became interested in family history while in high school while asking questions of my paternal grandparents who were reluctant to talk about their history. A great uncle gave me some information about a family incident prompting relocation and a name change and immigration from Quebec to the USA. Our surname, at the time, was Pierce but he said originally (phonetically) it sounded like Passino. It took nearly 40 years and the genealogy search engines, along with a very helpful Fr-Canadian to find my paternal lines; Pinsonneault/Passinault/Pinsonneau/Passino and Lagace/Lagasse/Meunier/Mignier. We do not know why my gr-grandfather changed the surname to Pierce. My other surname interests are Pickett (FR-Canadian), Anderson, Walker, Mason, Devol(Duvall),Shaw and Nix - for now.

RE: Giles Lemieux and Descendants
I added the reference into the memorial, so that others would have it as well (I should have done that in the first place, since it isn't common knowledge). My sister is our French expert. My mom "encouraged" her to start taking French when she was 13, so that she could help decipher the French records at various places in Quebec... ☺

RE: Gladys M Walker Thorne
Hi Melanie - Yes, her parents were indeed William Porter Walker and Rose E Powell. Gladys' middle name was Marie. Her daughters are my cousins. So we'd all be cousins - or something!

All yours! A friendly note that in the future is is best to make use of the 'edit' button on a memorial and click the last underlined link, this will take you to a comment box where you can note relation to the individual memorialized and ask for transfer. This makes it easier for the memorial holder as the email they get has a link to the memorial as well as to your member page, making it a swift transfer should they choose to give up ownership.

No relation. I just record the cemeteries and create memorials for ones that aren't already posted.
