Bio and Links
Bio Photo I discovered my grandmother's ancestor, Captain Prince Tobey, at the age of 10, and in the following months found a Mayflower ancestry for his wife, confirming a garbled family legend. Since then I've traced both my parents' ancestries back to both the Mayflower and to colonial Virginia. Recently I discovered that I can correct errors and add brief biographical sketches to my ancestors' Find a Grave memorial pages and add links between family members; that should keep me busy for a while.

I have a Master's Degree in History. While in graduate school, I stumbled across the official 1776 definition of "happiness," as used in the Declaration of Independence. In my master's thesis, I trace the 2000-year-old "family tree" of the Declaration. A summary of my thesis is online at https://www.academia.edu/1479704/Safety_and_Happiness_The_American_Revolutionary_Standard_for_Governmental_Legitimacy

John,

Thanks for the heads-up: I had no idea!

Unfortunately, I cannot remove any photos that I have not placed on the memorials I mangage(don't ask me why). I have to request through Find A Grave that the "image" be removed. I guarantee that I will contact them immediately.

Thanks for bring this to my attention!

Hello John,
Of course you can use the photo of Albert's stone. I would be honored. Good luck with your search!

Hello John,

I have transferred this memorial to you, I hope that you can merge the two because there's good information on them, and my picture on the other. How interesting about your family tree. Hope you can tie all the loose ends together.

William Drake
Regarding William Drake's memorial, I created the memorial and added photos of his headstone but do not recall adding links to his family. I can only surmise that someone else has added these links. If these links are not correct then they should be deleted.

John Adam's parentage
Hello John:
Thanks so much for your input - I have changed both my memorials to reflect your suggestions and also viewed your family tree work.

I notice it is changed, almost daily, by the Tree's various contributors. The problem I find with sources (that old) is that most disagree, even though they are from "professional" historians and genealogists.

Grave location is primary on this site and it is an added bonus & wonderful to "get it right" on the parentage...I should have noted when it was "speculation" - I appreciate your work and help.
Cheers~ Shirleen

RE: false William Davis information
John,

Thank you for this information. I am travelling this week and will follow up when I return home. Most of my Pittsylvania Davis information is based on the comprehensive research performed in the early 1960s by my grandmother's first cousin, William Brunell "Buck" Sours (born 1895 to Mary Nannie Davis Sours) His work was all based on primary documents and personal interviews. He compiled several volumes on his Davis and associated family ancestry. I would be glad to share it with you.

Regards.

RE: photo permission request
Feel free to use any of my Find A Grave photos as long as you credit each one as "photographed by Meredith Davies."

Thanks!
