Francis Maron Eastwood
Eileen,
I see you have your great great grandfather's memorial on find a grave. To my knowledge Francis did not die in McDonough County,Illinois. The Enrollment of ex- Soldier and Sailors Widows and Orphans of the late Armies residing in the State of Kansas (basically Widows pension enrollment) states that Francis died in Oswego,Labette County,Kansas on August 21,1879. This is in Josephine's own handwriting as she filled the pension forms out. It states she was residing in Bourbon County,Kansas at the time of Enrollment. The 1880 Census backs that up with her residing in Marion Township,Bourbon County,Kansas in 1880 and Josephine's status as Marital Status: Widowed; Relation to Head of House: Self.
Frances's cause of death was Bilious fever.
NAME: Francis Eastwood
GENDER: Male
RACE: White
MARITAL STATUS: Married
ESTIMATED BIRTH YEAR: abt 1841

Old Protestant Burying Ground
Hi Eileen -- I'm related to the Jarvis family.

It's wonderful to find so much family history and to see that the cemetery had recently been refurbished...so many of the 6' stones are now standing and the inscriptions of these stones are so very clear.

RE: Are you still active in Find a Grave?
Hi Eileen -- thank you for connecting with me and for letting me know that you've caught up on the 'edits'. I was at the Old Protestant Burying Ground this past September looking for some of my family and took photos of the Cemetery.
