Well, that is a mystery. Albert Brandvold and Christine Berdahl were married in Garretson SD and the baby daughter was born there and died shortly after birth. I have not heard of another Andreas Brandvold, but if I come across anything, I will let you know.

Is there a plot number or a location or a map? I would be interested in visiting this cemetery some day, but live almost as far away as I can be and still be in the state of Minnesota!! In the spring, could someone take a photo of the area? I might be interested in placing a marker that I purchase here in the North Country and drag it down there. I have done this several times....

Thank you so much for your help! Please let me know what steps need to be taken for the marker. I may attend services at the church within the next couple of weeks and if there is someone that I should ask for to discuss this, please let me know.

I think that what you have posted is correct. It confirms research that I have collected from other sources. I will doublecheck and let you know.
I visited the Elstad cemetery this weekend and took my own pictures. What a beautiful setting!
I am saddened by the fact that there is not a grave marker for Johan and Anne. Are you associated with the church? I would like to look into adding a simple marker that document their burial location and would like to find out how I go about that. I am hoping that they are buried near their sons and that I can find a flat marker in the style of the sons.
You mentioned documenting the families of Elstad church. Are you planning to publish a book or pamphlet? I really think that you should. It would be lovely to have a summer festival someday that commemorates the original families.

Thank you so much for adding J H Semmen and his wife Anne Trulsdatr to the Elstad Cemetery. I have been trying to find both of their dates of death and place of burial for more than two years. JH is my great great grandfather. I did recently discover Anne in the Fillmore County records. Her cause of death is noted as Consumption. As you have listed "Taering" as the cause of death for both Anne and Johan, I have concluded that they both died of consumption. Their son, Johan Anton, would have been about 14 at the time. His older brother and my great grandfather, Ole Thorvold Semmen, took over his care. Ole moved Ryder, North Dakota in the early 1900's; somewhere betwen 1906 and 1908. Johan Anton remained in Fillmore County. Ole T. should not be confused with Ole H. who moved to Brookings South Dakota in 1884. Ole H is the son of Helge and Inger Semmen. You may find the records at http://www.arkivverket.no/eng/Digitalarkivet useful. These records have been transcribed by Norwegian volunteers. There is an english version of the website.
