Bio and Links
Bio Photo On my maternal side I am researching Pearson, Stewart, Hickam, Watson, Reeder, Greenbank, Crosslen, Perkins, Copeland, Bosworth, Howland/Tilley, and Wiseman. My paternal side includes Cowles, Morris, Osborn (various spellings), Darling/Stewart, Barker, Stecher/Stecker, Starbuck, Coffin, and Cain. Also on my paternal side are the Cherokee Old Settlers and associated families of McDaniel/Ward, England, Adams.

Concerning photos I post on my memorials, many of them are from my personal collection. I would appreciate if you would do me the courtesy, of contacting me if you would like to use them; and I would always love to hear from relatives.

RE: Wheeler/Wheler family names

Sorry it's taken me awhile to reply. I don't have a source for the Wheeler name. I only know it's one of my ancestral names. The Wheler I got from an entry on Rootsweb but I assume it's the way it was spelled long ago. Here is how I found it:

Rootsweb>Search>Emily G. Wheeer>World Connect>Bottom Entry (data Base Watson)>Pedigree (top)>

From Elizabeth Wheeler (bottom), follow the lines until you reach where they change from Wheeler to Wheler. As you can see, there are many ancestors and changes.

Hello Kathleen,

If I replied to you, I didn't make a note of it, so would you please tell me if I did?

Thank you,

RE: Wheeler/Wheler family names
Hello Kathleen,

When I first began searching my Wheeler line, I made a beginner's mistake and thought I had found a great line that took me back to prominent heads of countries such as Ireland, England, France, Germany, etc. I went so far as to look up each person on line. That's where I got the information for them, that's were I found the name changes for Wheeler. I learned through a cousin that we do not have a Lazarus Wheeler and do not belong to the line of George Wheeler which leads back to Lazarus Wheeler, ETC.

I'm sorry but since it isn't my family, I no longer have the source material. Since it took me so long to so the research, I decided to leave it all out there on Find A Grave for actual family members such as yourself to learn what they may from it.

There is a book "The Genealogy and Encyclopedic History of the Wheeler Family in America". You may be able to learn what you seek from it.

Sorry. I was at the cemetery for a funeral and just took some random photos of military markers.

RE: Mary Polly Hickam Sams
No verification, I have read on and other places where she was born in Virginia, Forks of Ivy, Buncombe County, North Carolina and Burke County, North Carolina.
Her parents were married in Virginia in 1795.

Mary Hickam Sams was my 3rd g-grandmother, born in 1799.
Are you a descendant of the Hickam/Sams?
Thank you for your e-mail.
May God bless.

RE: Elek and Martha Osborn--Ramona Cemetery OK
Sorry - Those two stones just happened to be among the hundreds of others that I photographed in the Ramona Cemetery.

Janie Dodson
Kathleen - Sorry, but the Janie Dodson gravestone just happened to be in the cemetery in Chelsea. I did however go there to find the Dodson burial sites. I have no information for Janie Dodson. Are you after the Reno connection; or the Dodson side? My wife is a Dodson and I have about 800 Dodson relatives in our files. Her Dodsons were mainly from NW Arkansas & Eastern Oklahoma. Thanks for the note, have a good day... Will B.

RE: Amrosia Osborn
Hi Kathleen. I don't have any information on Amrosia or Van. I did a quick check and disn't find any clues either. You should try Osborne Origins
there is a wealth of info there.
Good luck!
