I started to do my family genealogy over 25 years ago when my one daughter had to do a school report. Some of my surnames are: McCloskey, Yarnell, Decker, Mentzer, Waggoner/Wagner, Butler from Clarion Co., McGee, Leitch and several others.

I live near Howard married with two daughters and two grandsons.

May I use your photo for Ancestry.com? Tim is my cousin and I don't expect to ever get see his grave in person.

Adoption of David Mentzer
Hi! Since David was your 3rd Great Grandfather, I took the liberty of transferring him to you. You may want to do some more research (maybe in Ancestry.com) to come up with a better date of death. The gravestone is partially unreadable. It looks like it says 67 years, 6 mo. & 13 Days--but those dates don't translate to 1861 when I plug in his date of birth in the World Calendar:
http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

So, I tinkered with the illegible dates, and the best I could come up with was 19 Jan 1861 as a death date. That would need verifying somewhere else in genealogy records. again, perhaps Ancestry.com.

Good searching! I know you will take great care of your 3 Great Granfather! My Great Great Grandfather PETER McFERREN (1812-1898) and his wife, NANCY KEIFFER McFERREN (1815-1900) probably knew David Mentzer, and may have been related somehow. 'm sure they went to Church together at Snow Hill Nunnery!

Both Peter & Nancy are dead-ended. 100 families are searching for their parents. If you come across any McFerren info, would appreciate your passing it along to me!

CHEERS!

Patty McFerren-Blanton

Highland Cemetery
It would really be wonderful if you could add a photograph for Highland Cemetery. For those of us who will never get the chance to go there in person, it would be greatly appreciated.
