Sorry about that first message hit wrong key. The only info I have is what was in the book,"A History of Jones Creek Baptist Church". Richard Horne married Mrs. Mary (Hendley) Gordon, a widow with 3 children. They moved to Jones Creek in 1817. Mary joined Jones Creek church April 27, 1822. Born March 9.1782 - died, Nov. 1,1832, buried at Jones Creek.

I made the change. If I transfered to you, you could then add birth/death place, other information, links to other family members and other family information that you wanted to. Let me know if you want me to pass on to you.
the (?) is for unknown maiden name. I added these memorials as a favor to another requestor. If any of the memorials in Concorde Cemetery are relatives of yours, I'd be happy to transfer.

Thanks for the headstone pic! Great job finding it - I really had no idea who to ask about plot information.
I'm happy you undertook to find it on your own!
Thank you again!
BTW, he is my 3rd great grandfather.
|Tony Middleton||Gordon / Houston connection|
I don't have much connection to the Gordon family. My 1st cousin (2X) Charles Lawson "Boy" Middleton married Laura Lena Smith Gordon about 1928.
My connection with Tommy goes thus:
James Middleton 1760-1810 had four sons and two daughters. His eldest son Alexander Goodby Middleton 1795-1858 was my 2nd Great GF. James's 3rd son William M Middleton Sr 1801 - 1871 had a granddaughter named Nora Augusta Middleton. She married Tommy's grandfather Thomas Edgar Houston. That makes Tommy my 4th cousin.

Is that Gordon Cemetery possibly listed in Find A Grave under another name? No Gordon Cemetery listed in Long County in Find A Grave. Of course it might be that it is simply a completely unrecorded cemetery. That prospect thrills me cause I'm always hoping some of my ancestors whose graves haven't yet been located will at some point come to light when these little family plots come on line.

Very nice to hear from you. This is precisely the sort of thing that makes Find A Grave so much fun to me. That the descendants of two men who served together over a hundred and sixty years ago can have a conversation like this. My Great-Grandfather Henry H Middleton also served in Co. K of the 5th GA Cavalry, and it is entirely likely they knew one another. I have worked on a virtual cemetery of Co K of the 5th, but so far I've only managed to locate 26 of their graves. Below is a link to it if you'd like to look it over. Of the six Gordon brothers I only have Artemus listed. Do you know where any of his brothers are buried? I'd love to add them to my "cemetery".
