The passing of two of my grandparents began a journey to figure out how the items I was finding in their houses were related to our ancestors and brought me to this site.

I am researching the following family names: Godwin, Penrod, Grammar, Outlan from Jackson and Union County, IL. McKee, Lorance, Combs from Madison County, MO and Boyd from Indiana and MO.

RE: Mesiniah Kitts
Hi Amy
I didn't get your email. But feel free to send me another. Missiniah is my grandpa's great grandma. Makes it easier to grasp rather than have to figure it out how many greats she is. I have been to her grave, left her flowers...She is one of my absolute favorite ancestors as there is so little information about her. Most is supposition to be honest. Other than the the hard facts of marriage, children and death. I do know some things about her; like she loved books. When her 1st husband Jeremiah died and they had an auction of their things- she bought all of her books back. She and I sign our capital A's the same. How's that for weird? She did know how to read and write which was not common for women of that era. My grandpa said she was Indian because that is what his grandma told him and she was her daughter. :) My grandpa had lots of stories of growing up in Jackson County and lucky for me I listened to most of them. If you are on Facebook, search for Allied Families of Bittle, Kitts, Outland and Parker and join us. There are some pictures of her son and step children. Thanks to Wes!

RE: Wilson Ulysses Godwin
How about all the US censuses? I mean seriously, what kind of info is this woman looking for? It's as plain as the nose on her face....
