RE: Solomon Hardesty
I am only related to Solomon because my wife is his great-great granddaughter, if I'm counting correctly. Here is the chain:
1. Solomon Hardesty married Harriet Davis Crow.
2. Solomon & Harriet had a daughter Susan Elizabeth Hardesty. Susan married George Chambers.
3. George & Susan Chambers had a son Clarence Chambers. Clarence married Rachel Edna Shaffar.
4. Clarence & Rachel had a daughter Dolores Evangeline Chambers. Dolores married Joseph Clifford Rainey.
5. Joseph & Dolores had a daughter Frances Rainey. (However, all of her life she has been called Panchita, except on "official" documents.) I am fortunate to be known as Panchita's Husband!

If it is OK with you, I would find it easier to communicate directly via email instead of going back and forth through Find-A-Grave.

If you are interested I have some names/addresses of people who have been interested in the Hardesty and Crow families.

RE: Solomon Hardesty
I'm sorry but I have not attempted to research Solomon's military service. Since his daughter (Susan) was born in Iowa in 1861, and his next child (Milton) was born in Iowa in 1870, I think it would be reasonable to assume that Solomon was in a unit from Iowa. I would suggest a search of Civil War service records for Iowa. Also look at pension records to see if his wife applied for a pension after Solomon died.

Here are a few names that I see attached to Ellis from Amistad....

If you have a particular name or family you are looking for, let me know.

I have access to the local funeral home records, thanks to the many years that my grandfather dug the graves for them. This is where I came across the info on Arminda's memorial. I always take family info over second hand, so if Tolbert was what was passed down thru the family, it probably is Tolbert. I will do a quick search of the records and see if I have anything else on Ellis in the funeral records.
