|I have been doing genealogy for over 30 years, my main interests are my ancestors in the Shaffer, LeBroke, McIntosh, Rister, Wadsworth, Cecil, Reeves lines. I got most of my material from the LDS Church films and many a trip to the DAR Library in Washington DC. I have visited many cemeteries although I have found many mistakes in their inscriptions. I welcome any mistakes that you find and gladly correct them.Happy Hunting!|

After several nights of research, I feel certain that I have our answer. There are 2! Two nights ago I located the TN Margarett's DC in Ancestry. Later I found the DC that you put on the memorial. Yours is the wrong one. I have tried to find that first one again but have been unsuccessful. Harless Brakebill, dec., has on line the internments at St. Paul. I worked with him extensively. He was the Monroe Co. Cemetery expert and oversaw St. Paul until his passing. He states, "William Henry Davis 7-8-1850 - 12-31-1902, son of William Davis and Susanah Clemmer. Margaret D. Davis 9-21-1850 - 8-1-1915, daughter of Jacob Shaffer, the long time Lutheran Minister at St. Paul and Barbara Elizabeth Shelley." The birthdate on the stone is identical. From what I can see, the date of death is almost 8-1-1915. When I have time, I will find out to whom your DC refers! What a coincidence! If you find that I am wrong, Please tell me! Thanks, Tommie

Good evening, As to the death date for Ms. Davis, the DC lists DOD "7-16-1915". From what I can see in the photo, it also reads "7-16-1915". Do you have some information that should be considered? I want to do this correctly, so please let me know! Thank you, Tommie Moser Nichols, Powell, TN

Thank you. John Crabtree Shaffer' grandfather is my 6th great grandfather - John Shaffer, Sr. 1755-1847. I descend through George Henry Shaffer and Barbara Slagle, through their daughter Sarah "Sally" Shaffer and George Newton. I have some info I would like to share with you but it is to long to send through Find A Grave. Could you please send me your e-mail address?

William Hammer Newton and Sarah "Sally" Shaffer are my 4rd great grandparents. I would like to trade info with you and have many questions but first I want to address the picture of John Crabtree Shaffer and his family you so kindly put on Find A Grave Memorial# 102341909. A memorial I created. I recently found a duplicate that has more info than I do and would like you to put your picture of John Crabtree Shaffer and his family on Find A Grave Memorial# 31457440 and then I will delete my Find a Grave Memorial# 102341909.
Thanks so much.
I live in Caldwell County, Missouri.

I guess it is safe to say through Anne, you and my wife Laura would be 3rd cousins then. It's so good to hear Anne's legacy lives on. Would you by chance have any idea's where she was buried?
Thanks for responding Carol. We really appreciate it.
|Josef Gray||Anne Elizabeth Perrin|
My wife is the G G Granddaughter of Anne Perrin. Her Great Grandfather was Samuel A. Phillips, son of Thomas, Anne's first husband. Samuel and his wife Martha moved to Oklahoma and there youngest son was Jesse Phillips, his son, David Phillips is my wife's father. I see you posted a picture of Anne Perrin, we appreciate it. Also, just a bit of history, Anne's first husband Thomas Phillips was shot and killed in an argument in the next county over from Collin County, Tx. Took me years to find the story. Finally, I was wondering how, or if you are a descendant of Anne.
Thank you for your time.

|Jon G||Jacob Shaver Last Will & Testament 1807|
I recently acquired an old copy of Jacob Shaver's last will & testament dated "this twelfth day of March one thousand eight hundred seven" (1807). It begins the same as the 1813 will, until he gets to the part of naming the heirs. He "bequeaths to Eve by beloved wife the third part of my estate...." He mentions his sons Philip and Samuel along with his "youngest daughter Eve".
The bottom of the will has "at a court held for the County of Shenandoah on Monday the 12th day of October 1807 this last will & testament of Jacob Shaver Deceased was exhibited to the court and proved by the oaths of George Landes & Frederick Sower......"
Does anyone know if Catharina's middle name, or any of the daughters middle name was Eve?

I, too, am descended from Otilla and Jacob. I'd love to compare notes.
|Patricia Gerst Buchanan||RE: Jacob Shaffer, Jr|
Jacob is my 6X Great Grandfather. His son Jacob is my 5x Great Grandfather. I have many of the original papers from the Garrett Snuff fortune. As you know, extensive research was done on the lawyer's part, and Jacob Jr is listed in the papers as being buried at Solomon's Lutheran Church. Just thought I'd let you know. Also, Do you know for a fact that Jacob's (the III) mother is Catherine DeLaPlank? That is not clear in all of the Garrett Papers.
Thanks so much!
