|Jenny Rasmusson||Martha Washington Hartley|
Hi! I believe that Martha Washington Hartley (aka Mattie) married Robert Armistead Lewis in 1885. On their marriage record, the other male listed is Daniel Hartley. Checking the census, it shows Martha born in Alabama in 1866. Checked the 1870 census and Daniel and Margaret Windham Hartley have a daughter, Martha, aged 4. Other children in that census include Florence (1864), Cora (1868), Thomas (6/12). So I believe that Martha Washington Hartley Lewis (also buried in Magnolia Cemetery) is the daughter of the Captain Daniel Hartley that you have added to FindAGrave.

Thank you for the flowers left for my father (Memorial # 50626874, Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, AL). As a correction, he was the son of Margaret Virginia Burns/Clark and not Costigan/McCue. Margaret's DOD was 1958.

Thank you so much for the transfer. I added a little paragraph to her memorial that you may find interesting if you like history (and who on this site doesn't)...

Glad I could help. Joyce

You are always welcome for my help. I need Findagrave friends to take some of the memorial management burden off me for Magnolia. You are helping me by accepting the transfers.
I don't know if you saw on the national news that a tornado blew through Mobile on Christmas day. It passed about half a mile from my apartment and I watched it from my back door. That was the first tornado I have ever seen with my own eyes. I hope it will be the last.
It damaged a lot of property in midtown, including Murphy High School, Trinity Episcopal Church, and the Mobile Infirmary. It started at the loop near Holcombe & Goverment and traveled northeast to Prichard, about 7 miles.
A week ago we had another tornado blow through Crichton. It started at I-65/Dauphin St. and moved northeast to Prichard also. 6 mile track.
They didn't sound like freight trains the way most people say. It's hard to describe. More like a prop engine airplane flying low.
Have a happy new year.

I surveyed Lottie UMC Cem. in the early 80s and there was a headstone there at that time. The cemetery was resurveyed in the mid 1990s and there was still a headstone for him. Is he buried in both cemeteries or was he moved from Lottie UMC Cem. to Bryars McGill Cem.
