Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am searching (and finding) info on my family lines. The names Davis, Small, Burns,Born, Penley, Chester, Lingle,Turnmire,Woods, Bruce.... being main ones..but there are so many offshoots I'd be sure to miss one or more trying to list them. I have a few lines traced back to colonial America and beyond to England, Germany, and Scotland, which makes my heart smile. I just found THIS site last week and am in heaven finding headstones of family now. I keep finding relatives to leave forget-me-nots for. :)

Old Burns Cemetery

I went to the Old Burns Cemetery Saturday, 05 MAR 2016 with Mr. Dana Burns, and Mr. Rusty Burns and his wife, Kay. Conrad Burns is my G-G-G-G-G Grandfather, so I had been there before, and Mr Dana Burns has kept the cemetery maintained. We looked in the woods for an hour, but couldn't find it. There's no good directions online, but we brought Mr. Dana Burns back with us and he led us right to it. True, it's on the Crafton Farm. When you go out to almost the end of the Crafton Farm Rd, there is a small parking pad on the left. Just on the side of the parking pad closest to the Crafton Farm house is an old logging road that cuts through the woods at a diagonal. After a few hundred yards, the road splits off to the left in a smaller old logging road. The cemetery is in a slight clearing, approximately 1/4 mile from the parking pad, on the left side of the logging road. I used a 16 channel, high precision GPS to obtain very precise coordinates to the graveyard.

N 3540.6526'
W 8128.8726'

There's quite a few burial sites there, but only a few are legible, and most are simple unengraved field stones. The GPS coordinates posted for this cemetery are in error. It is not down by the river. It's not difficult to get down to it, and there are no creeks to cross. It's all a matter of parking at the correct place, and from there following the old roads down to the cemetery. I'd be happy to help with any other additional information about this cemetery.

Conrad burns
I know you through your sister, Polly. I want to know was Conrad Burns, your fifth grandfather. Was his spelling of Conrad originally a K like Konrad Adenauer and changed t to a C when he got to America? Also, what about his wife and children?

RE: Conrad Burns
YES!!!!! I did see them and responded. Did you get it? I would love to see all that you have to share. Have you created a Find-A-Grave site for each of these graves?

Burns Family Cemetery
The Burke County Cemetery Census has this information about the Burns Family Cemetery,

Location - on the Crafton Farm about 0.8 mile from Miller Mill Rd.. Travel I-40 east from Morganton exit 118, turn right on Old Hwy 10, go about 0.8 miles and turn left on Johnson Bridge Rd., go about 3.8 miles to George Hildebran School Rd., turn right and go about 0.5 miles to Miller Mill Rd., turn right, go about 0.4 miles to Grace and Truth Baptist Church, turn right on gravel road in front of church and go about 0.4 miles to end of road. The cemetery is on the Crafton Farm and is located above the Burns Ford on a hillside. No stones mark the graves.

Survey provided by Jack Hall in July 2010.

RE: Conrad Burns
Yes.... I'm sorry. I meant Conrad Burns... not Ruby. Have you had any with Phillip Burns, Sr., Phillip Burns, Jr., Susannah Burns or Catherine Burns? I found Susannah Burns division of property when she passed away......... I have also found her attorney's grave. But I can't find any of their graves.

I'm still hunting tho!!!!
