Headstone for Daisy E. McGee
Betty,

The headstone has finally been returned to the McGee plot at the Salem Cemetery, after several discussions with the caretaker. We left the stone standing in the empty base between the stones for Pearl and M. Addie. Interestingly, Daisy's stone appears nearly identical to that of M. Addie, other than weathering of course. I'll send you a photo via email.

Thanks so much for your help!

Best wishes,

Deb

Graves at Clarksbury
Hi Betty, I truly appreciate your efforts to locate graves at Clarksbury, I saw that at least 4 that you went to take you stated couldn't find. I went back to my tree on ancestry.com and pulled the death certificates for each and all state buried at Clarksbury. My suspicion is that graves are unmarked or badly damaged. I have since attached the DC to memorial on Find A Grave. Hopefully someone can go back out to church and check their records or get confirmation from Davidson County Library. They keep an index of all those buried. Thanks again for your trying, it is greatly appreciated. Jerry Hughes

Daisy E. McGee
I am researching the McGee family with the hope of locating the proper resting place for a headstone I found in a barn at our new property in Stokes County, NC. The stone was originally found about 50 years ago in Winston Salem by the previous owner, a Moravian minister. He cannot recall exactly where he found it, unfortunately.

The transcription reads:
Daisy E.
Dau of
J.W. & J.I McGee
Jan 20, 1899
Feb 19, 1900

I found the death certificates for John William and Julia Isabell on Ancestry.com, which led me to your information on Find A Grave for Salem Cemetery. Oddly, there is no record for Daisy there. Is there any chance you have additional information on either Daisy E. or the family plot?

Many thanks,
D. Fox
