RE: Porter and Martha Ownbey grave
My information came from another family member and your research seems to make it incorrect. I have moved Porter & Martha to Ebenezer cemetery. The headstone pictures on Find-A-Grave are put there by Find-A-Grave members so if you have a picture please post it to their memorials. There is a photo on Ancestry of the new stone but it is marked private.
Thanks for calling this to my attention

RE: Ebenezer Cemetery
Sorry, I don't remember seeiing any Porter or Martha Ownbey in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Union County GA. If I get back up there I will check.
Sorry I was not of more help.

Porter and Martha Ownbey
Hi Becky,

Unfortunately I am not the contributor for Porter and Martha's memorials so you will have to contact them to make any changes.

To contact the contributor, go to the memorial and under the name (to the right) click on the TAB "Edit" and follow directions.

I have in my genealogy program: Porter (1774-1853) and Martha (1778-1863. If the dates I have are correct, then your research for the 1850 and 1860 censuses is correct.

For me to link James, Sr. to his parents, the only choice is to put in their memorial number. It copies the dates as the contributor posted them. Had I caught the error before you did I would have contacted them regarding a conflict of those dates.

To answer what I think you meant regarding James Lafayette (Sr.), he did die before both his parents. He was only 36.

His oldest son, David Marion Ownbey, was my 2nd great grandfather. He was a brother to your James, Jr. David died at age 50, in Arkansas. His wife and daughters eventually ended up in Eastland County, Texas. I am wondering if the families stayed in touch with each other?

What generation are you to James, Jr.?

Hope some of this helps.

Happy Hunting!
