Bio Photo Since coming to Find-A-Grave I have found it to be priceless. I have enjoyed genealogy for a few years.

I enjoy taking photo's at various cemeteries. It is very peacefull and the people there are good listeners!! Most of the memorials I post are from these photo's so please let me know if you find an error or have additional info.

Will transfer if not my family. Just click the "edit" tab on the memorial that is in question. Click the item that is appropriate and tell me how I can help you.

Elias Wightman & Mary Sherwood
Followup to suggested additions to Elias R Wightman memorial. I am a descendant of Elias's sister, Jerusha Wightman Yeamans and a family historian.

Both Mary and Elias played important roles in the early settlement of what was to become the State of Texas. Mary privately published a collection of newspaper articles she authored in "Scraps of Early Texas History." The following is a link to my online copy:

If you search "Portal to Texas History" and search for Elias R Wightman, you will discover a wealth of citations of letters, surveys, etc. between Elias and Stephen Austin and others. He was the grantee and patentee of Spanish land grants in the Stephen F Austin concession as documented in the files of the General Land Office on the State of Texas. The following link accesses the official translation from Spanish of one such grant.

I would like to see the Find A Grave memorials for both these ancestors reflect their important contributions to the settling of Texas. Let me know if I cam assist in any way.

RE: Isaac McCann
Thanks for transferring Isaac McCann to my account to manage. And thanks for offering to add a new photo if his headstone has been cleaned. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. I live in Western Montana. I looked through a few of the memorials that you've added to see that you must have taken photos of every headstone within Fayette County in addition to some in Union County. I also noticed the surname Bivins among the memorials. It is probably another spelling of my maiden name Bevans. My ancestors settled around Philadelphia and Maryland then kept moving west from there.

Thanks very much for all you help. I called the Connersville Library this morning. The woman I talked to was very nice and a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks first of all for everything you do, and thanks for the message and the suggestion to call the library with a specific request. I will do that and let you know what I find. The old headstones often are so worn that it is nearly impossible to read them. Is Isaac McCann related to you?

RE: Isaac McCann
Thank you for adding the information. Is there a record at the cemetery that confirms Isaac McCann's birth date and especially his death date? I went back to my tree on Ancestry.com to check the birth date. The 1850 Census lists his age as 20 years old, the 1860 Census lists his age as 30 years old, and the Civil War Draft Registration lists his age as 33 years old. That agrees with the 1830 date that I have. The photo of the headstone is not possible to be sure of the dates as it is so worn it is difficult to read. Several other family members beside me have his death date as 19 Dec 1895. I did do some searching but I cannot confirm his death date.

Thanks very much for adding the photo of Isaac McCann's headstone. He was my husband's great grandfather and we would not have ever seen the photo if you had not posted it.

RE: Burton Douglas and Nancy

Thank you for explaining how to request transfer of memorials. I will do what you ask. Douglas died in 1820. Nancy and Douglas Burton were my father in law's great great grandparents.

I deleted my duplicate memorial. She is not relation so a transfer is not necessary. Thanks for catching that.
