I'm thrilled to have found this website, and enjoy adding to the Harshman family across the country. I owe all of the information to Charles William Harshman and his wife Mavourneen Harshman who documented all the Harshman in the U.S. in their first two books through about 1972. They put together thousands of extended Harshman family members without a computer. My first entry to FAG was my younger brother Douglas Asa "Doug" Harshman who passed away in 2009. |
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is to late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find the spot,
And come to visit you.

Her daughter Esther was my great, great, great, great grandmother.
Thank you for all of the information you have posted on the Harshman/Hirschmann family history. I have been doing our family's genealogy for several years, taking over what my parents and Aunt spent years to do; also prior to the use of a computer. I am a descendant of Catherine Harshman and Benjamin Spriggs; my Grandmother being a Spriggs. My Spriggs line is Benjamin-Jeremiah-William-Edwin-Vera. If you would like to have any information on this line, feel free to contact me. Thanks again for all the work you have done!

Thanks for the correct memorial number so I could make a link from Oliver Harshman to his father Henry Harshman. When I looked at Henry's memorial 47324329 I see a link to his wife, Mary, 47324174. Mary died many years after Henry and is buried in another cemetery in another state. Is Henry's wife, Mary, the mother to Henry's son, Oliver. If so, I will make that link also. Thanks!

I'll see if I can find him and let you know :)

I was just so excited to see that we have artifacts that still exist and to find out how you managed to get a hold of the information you did . I was also interested in where you fit in in this equation. I have always been a big history buff but just got into doing genealogy last year and I am really enjoying it. Thank you for responding Karon
