Lawrence Gordon Sunderlin
Kelly,

This obit was published in the Portsmouth Herald on April 11, 1955. Kittery is in Maine, across the river from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I had trouble reading the names of the relatives. There was no mention of where he was interred. He is not listed in Find A Grave.

"Kittery - Lawrence Gordon Sunderlin, United States Air Force, 19 year old son of Mrs. Ruby LaBranche, of 8 Government Street, died yesterday at the Boston Veterans Hospital after a long illness.

Airman Sunderlin, the son of the late Rollo C. Sunderlin, was born in New London, Conn., July 25, 1935 and had lived in Portsmouth before moving to Kittery 2 years ago. He enlisted in military service January 1953 and had been stationed at Sampson Air Force Base, Geneva, New York.

Besides his mother, survivors include five brothers, Alan B.; Philip C.; Thomas; Ralph S. and Keith B. LaBranche, all of Kittery; and step-brother Edward Lowry (may be Lawry); two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Foye (?) and Mrs. Paul Moys (?), both of Kittery, and nieces and nephews."

Hope this information helps you. I visit the Evergreen Cemetery frequently to take photos. I'll make sure Rollo's grave is trimmed and weed free. It is difficult to see some of the plaques there because of weed encroachment. I trim each plaque before I take a photograph. In many cases there are no family members left to care for the graves.

As a side note, I was in the Altoona Hospital (PA) in the early 1950's with a little girl who was badly burned from a kerosene stove accident. Her name was Nancy Sunderlin. I know she lived and was discharged from the hospital. It's strange that I remember her name almost 60 years later.

Good luck with your family search!

Kelly,

You are most welcome! I was glad to do it for you. Did you receive the e-mail I sent regarding the death of his son in the VA Hospital in Boston? If not, I can resend.

Regards,
Sue Ann

Hi,
I got pics for your request of Benjamin and Edna Harris in Willamette National Cemetery. Their gravestone is real weather worn and surrounded by 3 low hanging pine trees. This stone never gets full sun and was hard to get a good pic of but I tried.
