| Bio and Links | | Hello! I am relatively new to FAG, but I love it! I grew up in Hannibal MO, and most of my relatives are from Ralls and Monroe Counties in Missouri. Since my mom is still in Hannibal, we go "home" several times a year. I belong to the historical societies for those two counties, and I am involved in both of them. I also have public trees on Ancestry.Com. I tromp through the cemeteries there every time I am down, but, until recently, I only took pictures of the gravestones of my relatives. From now on, I will get as many as I can in the time that I have. My family roots include Howard, Boyd, Griffin, Griffen, McKee, Conn, Couch, and other branches in Ralls County, and McGee, Smith, Bryan, and Jackson in Monroe County. I also have roots in Cedar County MO with Shaw, Kibler, and corresponding families. I live in northern Wisconsin, and am willing to help any way I can. | |

 | RE: Griffin I'm a 3rd gr-granddaughter of Linus and Octavia Barber Griffin who moved their family from Delaware Co OH about 1856 to Ralls Co MO. They had 4 kids - Elizabeth Rhoda Griffin Aldrich, Mary Ann Jane Griffin Holcomb McCue, Isaac Griffin (my link) and Phoebe Ann Griffin Phinn Miller Snell.
I have no idea as to who Linus' parents and siblings were. I know he was born in CT about 1806. Octavia's Barber line goes back to where one of the Grandma Barber's was the daughter of William Phelps (2nd or 3rd Mayflower voyage) and Mary Dover. I come through their daughter who married a Barber, but they had a son from whom now US Sec of State John Kerry descends.

 | Griffin Curious as to which Griffin family in the Marion Co and Ralls Co MO area you are connected with. There was one headed by David Griffin. Then the other one was headed by Linus Griffin. So far research has found that they are not related to each.

 | RE: Woollen That is really bad about cemetery! When 61 went four lane between Frankford and Bowling Green a little cemetery near the highway almost got plowed over. It is called Gailey and some of my Dad's family is there. I've not been to the cemetery as I wasn't sure how to access but now I have directions. You can see the sign for it from the high way but I couldn't tell if there was a road or if you would have to walk to it. I put out some photo requests and a very kind volunteer got them for me. I asked how to get there now I have directions. I plan to visit at Memorial Day if not sooner.
I get back to Ralls fairly often. I live in Missouri but way up by the Iowa boarder and further west than Ralls County.
Heather
PS Keep me posted about the cemetery | | | Heather Cottrell
 | RE: Woollen Hi Lynne, No problem about the stone photo. I appreciate you taking time to take photos. I also want to say I am very sorry to hear about your Mom. I can only imagine how tough that is! My Grandma lives about about a block over from Barkley on First Street. I too do not live in Ralls anymore but next time I am down I'm going to try to go over there and see what pictures I can fulfill for myself. :)
I have a branch of my Grandfather's family that moved up to the Two Harbors, MN area. I was thinking that was fairly close to Duluth. I am planning on trying to come up that way this summer actually. I have a good friend from college that lives just east of the Cities in rural Spring Lake, WI. I go up there every summer anyway. I figured I might as well go on up to Two Harbors one year.
How do you even get over to the old New London Cemetery? I have seen it on Find a Grave but for the life of me can't figure out where it would be according to that map. It looks like it should be over around Mama Mia's Restaurant and the auto shop place over there on the west side of 61.
Take care and thank you for your help!

 | Charles Wesley Woollen I think you might have posted the wrong picture on this memorial:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=64524684
The dates on the stone don't match the dates on the memorial. I think the stone in the picture is for Charles Wesley Woollen, Jr. The memorial above is for Charles Wesley Woollen, Sr. I was wondering if you would remind taking the picture off. The wife is also different. I am sure that marker is for the son. There is not memorial made for Charles Wesley, Jr. If you want to make one and post the pic that would be awesome! I appreciate your time in getting photos for me at New London!
