RE: Kate Kirkland Curl Picture
Hi Linda,

How are you?? I hope all is well with you and are
not to busy. Spring weather is here, so I hope you
get a chance to enjoy.

My mom, who just turned 89, fell and broke her
left femur bone January 4th, and had a very hard
time in rehab. I brought her home to her home,
and now live with her-because she came from rehab
not able to walk, and a mental break down, she
requires 24/7 care. My life has changed dramatically, but I do have family support, and a
sitter will start this week a couple of days this
week. It is so sad for my mom-but us to.

I have got back into my Curl family history, and
I thought I would see if you would not mind sending me the picture if William and Kate's
wedding. My email is: beckyyounce@hotmail.com.
If this still does not work with your computer-
let me know, and I will give you my friends email
who will send it to me. I so hope this works-I
hate to bother you again, but I would love to see
the picture.

I hope you can enjoy the spring weather while it
lasts, and that ya'll don't have any bad storms
this year!! You all up there have had enough of
those to last quite a while!!

Take care, and thank you so much Linda.

RE: Kate Kirkland Curl Picture
Hi Linda,

So good to hear from you.

I have not received the Curl picture yet.

Thank you for telling me about their not having
children and that he had only one child by his
first wife-it all matches what I have found.

My email address of: beckyyounce@hotmail.com
is the only email I have. Did you put 2 "ys" in
my address?? I have that to happen all the time.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year!

Sincerely,

Rebekah Younce

PS If my email still gives you problems, please
let me know, and I will see if my good friend
will let me use hers, and she can forward it
to me. Thank You Linda.

Kate Kirkland Curl Picture
Hi Linda,

I just wanted to thank you for giving me permission to use Kate's picture in my family tree. I have added the picture and your caption
you have on Find A Grave, and along with the info that you
own the picture and gave me permission to use the
picture in my tree. The addition of the picture
and added personal info, makes my tree and the
story of Kate and William so much more than just
dates.

Have a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Rebekah Younce

Hi Linda,

I forgot to tell you to please tell your cousin
who gave you permission to share the wedding picture of William M. Curl and Kate Kirkland, that
I said "Thank You".

I don't have any children for them, do you?

Again, thank you, and this is my correct email.

Have a good Monday.

Sincerely,
Rebekah

RE: Photo of Katie Kirkland Curl
Hi Linda,

Thank you so much for replying to my email and
giving me permission to add Kate's picture to my
family tree! I appreciate the additional info about Kate-that is what makes "family history" more real and "alive" are the personal recounts of a person. I will print that off and save for my history as well. So glad to hear the house she
lived in is still there-that does not happen to
often now days.

I would love to have the wedding picture of William and Kate! What a family treasure.

My personal email is the Find A Grave: beckyyounce@hotmail.com.

Thank you again for your help and kindness!

Sincerely,
Rebekah H. Younce

Photo of Katie Kirkland Curl
Hello LGH,

Thank you for posting a picture of Katie Curl!
Katie married my distant cousin, Willim M. Curl.
She was a real "dresser", love the clothes.

May I use your photo of Katie on my family tree
on Ancestry?? I would love to had her picture in
her stylish clothes.

If you have a picture of William Monroe Curl, I
hope you will share that as well some day.

Thank you for your help with my request.

Sincerely,
Rebekah H. Younce

Richard M. Kirkland
I added a headstone photo to this memorial today, somewhat cleaner than the initial photo. You may be interested in the memorial at Baskin-Kirkland cemetery for Mrs. Martha C. McRae (1830-1870), as she is said to have been the 2nd wife of Moses Branson McRae (1819-1890), who appears to have been the father of Richard Kirkland's 2nd wife, Sarah Frances McRae (1847-1870).

RE: Headstone of Richard M. Kirkland
You're welcome, it's an enjoyable pastime for me. I've noticed it was not unusual for young married women of the antebellum planter class to be returned to their parent's family manor plot for burial, instead of that of their husband. Perhaps the higher incidence of death during childbirth, and husband's propensity to remarry, motivated this custom. In any event, it is interesting that he was buried with the family of his first wife.
