RE: Willie Lee Stone
Thanks for the info on Germaine and Willie Lee Stone.

I shared the obit with the caretaker of "William Morrison Yandell, Sr". She kept the middle name "Morrison" because she said his father's middle name was "Morrison" but posted the baby's obituary as written. Should the baby be connected to your William Myers Yandel? Is the headstone of baby W. M. Yandell correct for William Morrison Yandell or should the baby's headstone belong to your William Myers Yandel? See baby W. M. Yandell, Jr's FAF memorial #334653808.

RE: Stone family
I do family research for my sisters-in-law. Their mother was the daughter of Samuel Edward Stone and Daisy Catherine Biggers. I stepped up my research of the Stone and Shuman families after the Shuman Cemetery was "found" this last spring in south Charlotte, NC. There are no markers showing names in this abandoned cemetery. One of my sisters-in-law said some of her family were buried there. Trying to prove who is buried there, my search resulted in reading lots of obituaries in newspapers and sharing them on Find A Grave.

RE: My Yandle connection
I married a Yandle from Charlotte, NC. I have been researching the Yandle, Yandell, Yandel, Yandols, etc since 1986. What I found was all Yandles, including all spellings of Yandle, are related if those person's ancestor/s were in the US by the mid 1750's. What I haven't found is what happened to them between NC and Pennsylvania.

RE: Willie Lee Stone
You asked about Willie F. Stone, son of Charles Franklin Stone and Carrie Cathey Stone.
Name should be Willie Lee Stone aka William Lee Stone.
Willie's father was not deceased until 1949 per Charles' death certificate in Mecklenburg County, NC. There may have been a riff between son and father. No proof other than Willie said his father was deceased on the passport application.
Per Willie's passport application and census records:
Born: 5 Apr 1892, Charlotte, NC
Residence in US: 1919 and 1920
914 South Mint Street, Charlotte, NC
World War I-Sergeant 1st Class US Army in France with the A.E.F.; honorably discharge at Brest, France on 14 Oct 1919
Residence in France: 15 Nov 1919, 20 rue Bernanger, Paris, France.
Passport: issued an EMERGENCY passport to USA within a week for Saturday, 29 Nov 1918 - year probably should be 1919.
Second page of passport application:
PHOTO and signature of Willie Lee Stone
I tried to copy, but it must be blocked.
Description: age 27, mouth small, height 5ft-11 1/2in, chin prominent, forehead wide, hair light brown, eyes gray, complexion light, nose pointed, face square, no distinguishing marks.
Identifying documents: Willie's Honorable Discharge paper/s issued at Brest, France
Reason for being in France: Matrimony

The return trip from France to US shows him and his bride:
Germain Darfin Stone, age 17, married with American 14 Aug 1919.

Year 1919 Passport for Germaine Darfin Stone:
Born: 10 Sep 1902, Paris, France
Marriage: to Willie Lee Stone on
14 Aug 1919 at Perigueux, Dordogne, France.
Her residence in US will be: 914 South Mint Street, Charlotte, NC.
Her passport approved 26 Nov 1919
PHOTO and signature on her passport, not able to copy photo.
Age 17, height 5ft-4in, eyes brown, forehead medium, mouth medium, chin round, hair brown, complexion fair, face oval. tree, not mine, shows Germaine's full name as Marie Emma Germaine Darfin. I have not been able to prove the full name.
This tree gives location of her death as "bernieres sur france". Not been able to prove this.
Same ancestry tree gives daughter Mary Madeleine Stone, born 10 Sep 1923 in Washington, DC and death 22 Feb 2011 in Portmoody, Canada; married a George Woodward. I have no proof. I did find a Mary Stone in the 1930 census, age 6 born in DC, Father born in NC and mother born in France. This Mary, age 6, was a lodger in the household of John F. Ellis, born DC, a chemist - drugs and his wife Mary E. born MS; there are no parents in this household for Mary, age 6. The child is alone. Where are her parents? Did the parents take a trip back to France, go to Canada? Did something happen to Mary's parents? Don't know, could not find anything for them after the 1920 census in Charlotte nor anything after 1930 for Mary, the daughter. I only have the US Do you have the World you could check?

Hope this helps. Please let me know what you think? Suzzette

RE: Maggie Myers Stone
Sorry , I forgot to post the picture of Rosas grave. just did. The cemetery records for Danville are on Family Search. They show JH Stone buying the plot for $10 on July 9,1908. Do you have the death date of J H Stone?
Next time I am in the Genealogical library I'll check their records.

RE: Monroe Stone
Sorry, I have not been able to get passed that same brick wall for Alexander Stone. He was born abt 1832 in NC. He married in Catawba County, NC Rebecca Adaline nee Little. She may have been born in Lincoln County, NC. These counties are good places to search for Alexander Stone as well as Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties in NC. Alexander died during the Civil War on 28 Jan 1864 in the Point Lookout POW Camp inSt. Mary's County, Maryland, USA. He had been a resident of Meckenburg County, NC. Alexander is listed as on of the dead on the Point Lookout Monument. Please let me know if you find anything more. Sincerely, Suzzette
