Mary Neel,
You left me a message few years ago and I am not sure I responded for Mary Neel, Birmingham Cemetery. I have posted all the pictures of grave markers you can read. I just went back this month and I still could not find. Most of the markers have deteriorated. Jeanette

RE: Edward Sonday
Mary is an absolute mystery. Last place I have her is J Precinct, Seward County, Nebraska in 1885 (Nebraska State Census). David Sonday is widowed by the 1900 U.S. Census and still living in Seward County, Nebraska. Edward Sonday died in Oberlin, Decatur County, Kansas in 1886 and was brought back to Nebraska for burial, what he was doing in Kansas I have no idea. I've read on the internet where some are speculating that Mary died in Kansas as well but I have seen no proof. I can't imagine she doesn't have a headstone somewhere and I am really surprised she is not buried next to her husband. If Edward died in Kansas and was brought back to Nebraska, if Mary passed elsewhere, why was she not brought back as well, especially since she passed before her husband ??

Edward Sonday
I can take credit for the memorial but not for the photo, it was taken by weston04. Are you related to Edward Sonday ?? I am descended from his daughter Nettie Irene.

RE: The Neel Family
Hello, You're welcome. Birmingham Cemetery is in pretty rough shape because of weathering and vandalism. I tried to fulfill all the photo requests I could find and some of those I had to dig up the headstone and flip it over just to read them. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to spend there but I will be going back next Spring. I remember seeing William's headstone (which is now broken and laying the ground) but not a Mary but I will check all photo requests when I am there next spring.

If I get out that way I will see about getting your pic for you, but it might be easier to put a request in for that cemetery, and someone who lives closer to there could pick it up and get it for you quicker than I can.

RE: Mary A. Neel
I have a photo of any grave I could read. The markers are really worn. I have a photo that has a name and then says wife of James Neel, died 1860. Do you think that is the one?

I did not post any grave markers I could not make out, but would send you the photo if you want to post it. my email is Thanks
