Wister Shamley in Sweet Canaan
I took a photo of Wister's grave & posted it. Also took photos of the entire cemetery. There are other Shamleys buried there. Will post them all soon. Thanks, Cathy.

RE: Wister Shamley
I pulled it up on Ancestry, and on those early SCDC's that was reserved for the undertaker's address. Later DC forms had a place for the location of the cemetery. Also, in looking at where the place of death was, Brushy Creek is in the northeast corner of the county, near what we now call Powdersville, and it is just a few miles from Piedmont over in Greenville County.

I'd move his entry to the other Sweet Canaan

thanks, Karyn

Sadie Mae Hodge
Justed wanted to let you know I posted a picture for Sadie. I found it as I was wondering around looking at head stones. This was the only Hodge in the area. There were other Hodge's in other areas of the cemetery, but not near her.
Just for your records, she is located in Hymns North section, which is the section to the right of the main gate as you enter. Her grave is about 25 - 50 feet in front on the KEAN mausoleum. (It's the only one in the area)

RE: Sadie Hodge
If you can give me an idea of where in the cemetery to look, I'll be happy to try again. Sometimes the leaves cover the flat headstones and we might have missed it. Sorry. martha

RE: Savannah Brazil in Longview Cemetary
May I also add that I got into this project after finding, being disturbed at my findings, and finally seeing cleanup progress. I decided to find and photograph each and every stone my husband and I could see before the cemetery was abandoned again. I am sorry to say we did not find Savannah's. Part of Longview remains in brush and vines. If this, the lower part, is cleared so one can see more, we will look again. Tommie Nichols, Powell

Savannah Brazil
Hello,
I've transferred Savannah to you as you seem to know her. I've feared these eary DC's have been filled out by individuals who, simply, didn't know how to spell! Thank you for the correction! (I even noticed a misspelled word on my part!) Tommie Nichols, Powell, TN

I'm sure there must be someone with records .I will check the Greenville Co.cemetery records and see what they show. Have you checked the death certificate records on the folks in question as they will show where they are buried.Anything I can do to help I will
