Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and raised in Tabor City, North Carolina by my maternal grandmother, Irene Strickland Roberts.

I graduated from Tabor City High School in Tabor City, North Carolina in 1975, and immediately enlisted in the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Cavalry Scout, then as an Air Traffic Controller (Desert Storm Veteran) and finally as a First Sergeant of an Aviation Company (3/6th Cavalry) before retiring with 20 years service in 1995. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1992 while serving in the military which helped me become a teacher with the assistance of the Troops to Teacher program after retirement.

I began my second career as a teacher in 1995 with the Killeen Independent School District in Killeen, Texas. I have taught Kindergarten through Third Grade. In 2005, I completed my Master of Arts in Education, Administration and Supervision degree from the University of Phoenix, which led to my promotion to an administration position as the Curriculum Instructional Specialist for Ira Cross Elementary, Killeen Independent School District in 2007.

On 16 November 2013 I enlisted in the Texas State Guard and was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for 1st Battalion, 2nd Civil Affairs Regiment stationed out of San Marcos, Texas. I was promoted to Command Sergeant Major (E-9) on 13 March 2014.

I have been researching various branches of my family since 1979, and have always been knee deep into technology starting with the Commodore 64. I had always been a PC user but made the switch to Mac full time in 2010. I use a MacBook Pro, iPad, and of course my iPhone. I use Reunion and Family Tree Maker for Mac Genealogy programs.

In addition to genealogy I run and love to play golf every chance I get.

Floyd connection
Hello, just wanted to say I have records showing 2 daughters of Pugh Floyd & Jane Graham married Strickland brothers. Martha Floyd b. 1836 married A.G. Strickland. Harriet T. Floyd b. 1835 married Everett Strickland. Are you related perhaps? You can find Pugh Floyd's memorial at 61832684 with this info recorded.
