RE: Edward Archie Harbin
Thank you, posting them on find-a-grave would be best, it would allow other researchers access to the information. My email if you do want to send them is ca11812@juno.com. I heard of the family speaking of Uncle Eldon, who was living in Fairbanks, Alaska the last I heard. Not sure if L.D. Wall was sheriff at the time, but he was also related by marriage to the Harbins. His wife was Jessie D. Gray, whose maternal grandfather, James William Lee Gray was the son of Mary Elizabeth Harbin. Her father James Harbin buried at Kelso Cemetery, in Kelso, Tennessee was a brother to William Harbin, father of Andrew Marion Harbin and grandather of Will Harbin who married Jennie Tipton. L.D. Wall sister Mary Blackburn was a neighbor to my grandparents, Arthur Marcus Simpson, Jr. and Grace Leona Nash. The Walls-Blackburn-Lawler families have been very good friends with the Simpson-Nash family. I use to live with Katie who married Maj. Daniel P. Sullivan. The last I heard she is at age 82, not well health wise, living in Assistant living in Huntsville. I was despite our age difference, madly in love with her sister, Mary Alice Blackburn. I was truly heartbroken when she died, I will never forget her beautiful smile and her radiant auburn hair. Another sister of L.D. Wall was Juanita mother of Chicago Transit Authority Trumpeter, Lee Loughnane who still performs for the band. I am also a cousin to Gary Pearman, present owner of Ray Pearman Lincoln Mercury, and Hoyt Harbin owner of Harbin Ford in Scottsboro. Hoyt's ancestor James Isaac Harbin was the father of 26 children, by four different wives. He outlived all of his wives and most of his children, when he died in 1932. He is buried in Cameron Church Cemetery as well as Amelia Catherine (Harbin) Preston. Bill Preston her husband is buried at Nelson Chapel Cemetery in Killingsworth Cove.

RE: Edward Archie Harbin
Edwards father, Archie Edward Harbin was a brother to William Thomas Harbin who married Jennie Locket Tipton. Will and Archier were sons of Andrew Marion Harbin and Nancy Caroline Holman. Andrew Marion Harbin was a brother to Amelia Catherin Harbin who married William George Preston. The Harbins and Prestons came to Madison County, Alabama from Lincoln County, Tennessee in the late 1890's. Andrew and three of his brothers, Thomas Allen, James Isaac and John Martin owned over a million acres of land in and around Ryland. Are you related to John Wesley Miller and his wife Dolly Minerva Thomas? Their daughter, Flo Evelyn Miller married my grandmothers brother, William Wesley Nash and had two children, I was visiting with their youngest daughter Barbara in Morro Bay, California, which is over 200 miles away from where I currently live. She is now 74 years old, and as spry as can be. I have visited the gravesite of Gen and Mary (Simpson) Steger on several occasions. Yes, I do know that John Perrott Steger settled that area when he arrived in the area from Powhatan County, Virginia. Speaking of Gen Steger on the opposite side of the tombstone are the ingraving data of two of his sons, would it be possible to get a photo of that for me? One was Kennon Harris, named for his paternal grandfather, he supposidly served in the Spanish American War, but I was never able to find a service record for him. The other brother Richard Wall Steger died in Birmingham, but was buried at the Steger Ormond Cemetery. So it appears there is a connection between us afterall. :)

RE: Edward Archie Harbin
If would be interesting to find out if you are related to any of the following relatives of mine? Gen. John A. Steger married Mary Ella Simpson, my great-grandfather's sister. Any of the Harbin's, they are all related to eachother most of them still living in the Ryland area. The Preston's are also all related to eachother. The Evans who resided in Hazel Green. The Nash, who like the Evans family migrated from St. Clair County, Alabama. The McLeod family who arrived as pioneers and settled near Farley, Alabama. George McLeod married Mary Simpson, a sister to my 2GG Grandfather, John Simpson children of Dr. William Simpson, one of the first white surgeons to settle near Whitesburg, Alabama. He along with William Robinson and Thomas Roland founded the town of Liberty, which not too many people knew existed, Liberty was located west of Whitesburg and located below the bridge crossing the Tennessee River going into Morgan County. John's wife, Margaret Ann Dickson, daughter of James and Keziah (Wood) Dickson were also early Madison County Settlers. I am now completing my 3rd and final edition of Simpson and Allied Families. You mentioned you knew Archie Harbin, I first met him when my father drove through Madison County, we were on our way to Fort McPherson, in Atlanta where my father was stationed. It was my very first experience using an outhouse. Needless to say, I didn't like that one bit.

Edward Archie Harbin
Dear Rylandman, thank you so very much for getting this memorial for me. Edward's wife Grace Leona Simpson's was my father's sister. Edwards paternal grandfather, Andrew Marion Harbin was a brother to my father's mother's maternal grandmother, Amelia Catherine (Harbin) Preston.

So to confuse matters more, my father's neice, Phyllis daughter of Grace and Edward Harbin was also his 3rd cousin. Her children would be my forth cousin and well as my first cousins once removed. Phyllis Gail Harbin was their only child, Edward was killed in action never knowing or seeing his daughter. Phyllis married and has two sons and three grandchildren. Her mother died 2007 in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Again thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to get these photo's to me. :)
