I've been doing genealogy since 1996. However I've been interested in it since I was very young. I'm extremely respectful of cemeteries, they are a memorial of one's life. Cemeteries are a priceless resource when doing genealogy. In my opinion cemeteries are the most accurate way to get birth & death dates. Remember..... the marker is the final statement of one's life. However, even grave markers have their fair share of mistakes.I'm very careful when entering dates. I check as many sources as I can. As far as genealogy goes.... accuracy is the best policy.

Hi Ernie,
I added one more Beurlin child and transferred her to you. Notice the inscription for Flora that she died Jan 11 rather than 13th. Please correct the location. They are in BLOCK 16 (not Section) Lot 17.

I did this such a long time ago, I do not remember where I got the info, properly at the Belfast Town Hall or the Belfast Historical society. Good Luck.

You're very welcome. It was fun working on the cemeteries in the Montello area this summer/fall.

You're welcome. I love doing this and haven't been able to for the last 2 years as I was having a problem with my eyesite. Glad I can finally get back to taking photos for Find A Grave.

Ernie:

Those two memorials have been transferred to you. And, I am still loading pix and adding new memorials to Zion Lutheran in Blair, WI. I have 5 more Skyrud's to do: Alden, Kenneth, Louise, Madeleine & Mads. Want me to transfer to you also?
The family farm names from Norway show up all the time. In fact, my wife's family is as confusing as yours. The original name in Norway was Bottolfson, but when they immigrated, they could only spell the farm name, Risen. What I've done on Find A Grave is to list them as Risen and added a note about the old name. Fortunately for my wife, nobody in her family used Bottolfson in America.

Hi Ernie. I transferred to you. Glad to find a relative for you. Whoops, forgot to change cemetery for you to Zion. But, now you can do it. Would you like me to transfer his parents to you as well? I'm not a Herreid ancestor, just got interested in their family due to marriage. I kept coming across their name in obituaries. Let me know if any other records you would like to manage. Thanks, Cyndi

I know what you mean, very frustrating as we are trying to get these records as accurate as possible and then confront these errors that are chiseled in stone. I just added the obit for her and the correct year of birth.
