OBITUARY: THE BRISTOL HERALD COURIER, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2003
Nell Rose Fields
BRISTOL, Va. -- Nell Rose Fields, 82, of 18552 Benhams Rd., went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 22, 2003.
She was born Nov. 16, 1920, in Lebanon, and had made her home in Bristol Virginia for the past several decades. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Rose and the late Ida Mae Clifton Rose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Fields of Lebanon; and her brother, Homer Rex Rose of Portsmouth, Va.
Mrs. Fields was a retired employee of Oak Grove School in Russell County, and was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She was also involved in various senior citizens activities in the Bristol area.
Survivors include her brother, Carl W. Rose, Bristol Virginia; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rose, Bristol Tennessee; and nieces: Gail L. Rose, Bristol Tennessee; Joann Emmert, Bristol Virginia; and Karla Mabe, Midland, Mich. She is also survived by a great-niece, Marlena Emmert; two great-nephews, Channing and Samuel Emmert, all of Bristol Virginia; also several cousins; and a very special friend, Lovelace "Lacey" Elam of Bristol Tennessee.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard Smith officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in the Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon. Those attending should meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-8 p. m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Combs Funeral Service in Lebanon is serving the family of Mrs. Fields.
