I know my love for genealogy came from my mom. She and her sister started searching diligently for relatives, for their vital statistics, in the courthouses and graveyards back in the late 70's. At that time a person doing research was allowed to handle the books and search through the Births, Marriges, and Deaths themselves in the Forest City, North Carolina courthouse. In the late 70's there were not many people doing research like that in the area. Now, and its understandable, the public is no longer allowed to handle the books.

39 years ago Mom and my aunt linked family members together in Rutherford Co., N.C and I helped them write the names into their spiral notebooks. Now, today some of the surnames I'm researching on my side are:

KIMBRELL, HAMRICK, PADGETT, KENNEDY. My side mainly in North Carolina. On my husbands side: GRAY, CHRISTIANSEN, KENNEY, MURDOCK, and GILES. My husbands mainly in Massachusetts. My son's line: MANGUM, CUDD, BAILEY, and HOOVER. My sons mainly in North & South Carolina. Yes, I'm researching for all 3 of us but we have wonderful help from family and friends on FAG.

Find A Grave is a great place to find and link deceased family members together and to meet new friends. Thank you Find A Grave for making this tremendous site accessible to everyone.

I want to take a few moments to thank all those friends and family who have helped my husband and I in this wonderful work on Find A Grave. You know who you are. It is a blessing to have each of YOU as a friend.

What got me interested mostly in genealogy was that Mom used red ink beside the names of relatives in her notebooks. She wrote what relationship they were to me. That personalized it for me. Well, I've been hooked ever since...

RE: Mary Jane (Bridges) Davis
Hi Iris
She is listed as Mary Jane Davis in the 1920 census of Rutherford County, NC with her husband George and 2 sisters. In 1910 she is Jane Davis; in 1900 M.J. Davis; in 1880 Jane Davis; in 1860 Jane Bridges living in household with Alex & Hetty Bridges; and in 1850 Mary Bridges living in household with Alexander & Hetta Bridges.
Do you agree that her father is Alexander. If so, do you know Hetty? We probably should not spend too much time on this, but do you have any documents that she signed as Martha, or a family bible where she is listed? Gene

My great great grandmother was Jane Padgett. She married Luther Rice Lancaster. They say her father was a James Padgett. She was from the High Shoals area, but settled in Spartanburg. I have her and my great great grandfathers memorials under my care. Any help on my Padgett line would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
John Easler

RE: Lattimore gravestone photos
I added another Lattimore to Cowpens Cemetery and since you managed the others there, I thought you would like it transferred to you. I meant if you do, use the edit tab and make a suggestion option to request the transfer as usual.
Have a great day!

You are very welcome. I added one today, so if you want a transfer just edit it. OK?
