Andrena's Daughter
RE: Clara F Galbraith Wendt
Hello Carol,

I asked the creator of the other memorial if she wanted the picture and obituary on my memorial before I remove it or if she wanted to place her gravestone on my memorial?

She told me she placed her gravestone picture on my memorial before she removed her memorial. I added her middle initial "F". I have also added her husband's link to her memorial. I see you have requested that the parents be linked to the son. Since I did not create his memorial; I cannot link his parents to it.

Looks like you are all set to go (you brought a family together)!

RE: Clara F Galbraith Wendt
Duplicates happen all the time; more than what we would like. Some of the reasons are: (1) while members are adding a memorial; the application crashes which results in 2 memorials instead of one; (2) members don't search before adding a memorial; (3) members who do search may add a middle initial or date that isn't listed on the original memorial; (4) spelling differences in the name; (5) members want to create their own family member memorials even though one is created. The reason for this may be that they do not want to ask the creator of the original to transfer it to them or ask them to remove theirs?

The person who creates the initial memorial first is usually allowed to keep their memorial; however, I think most members would rather transfer their memorial to the family member than removing it. I have transferred many of mine to friends and family members or removed them to let a family member continue on with their memorial.

In this case I noted Clara's nickname as Ricky and last name as Wendt with no middle initial (per the obituary); however, the person who created the duplicate may have just searched for Clara F Wendt (adding their maiden name) and had not seen the original one come up because no middle initial was listed.

I have ask the creator of the other memorial to let me know if they want to take information from my memorial then I remove mine or add their picture to mine and they remove theirs? Either way is fine with me.

My intent of adding memorials initially was in hopes that family members could find their loved one's picture, obituary, gravestone, where they last lived, etc. I no longer have time to add memorials like I used to; now I just respond to requests for updates, duplicate awareness, etc.

It would be nice if Find A Grave could do a query on names, birth and death dates and send email notifications asking that they please review duplicate memorials. Or even better when a member adds a name, birth and death date, they automatically get a message that states "Memorial already exists."

You're welcome Carol. I spoke with cemetery staff the day I was there taking the photo and they spoke of him highly. They said he walked his dog in the cemetery every day.

RE: Ina Rowena Puffer Memorial# 12147084
Carol - I believe Rowena's stone is sitting next to the stone of Max & Doris Davenport. I can check for sure the next time I'm at the cemetery. As for Vera & baby Davenport, I also believe that Vera is probably the baby's mother. I believe this stone is also next to Max & Doris Davenport's stone, or just on the other side of Rowena's stone. I assume Vera is still living.

RE: Cloise Alonzo Stone
I love cemeteries but I am obsessed with Find A Grave, as my husband will testify. I would work on it 24/7 if I could.

Yea it was $100 when I first found it so I just kept an eye on it and waited for it to go down in price.
I've never used a genealogist are the Wells County ones? I would like to get more pictures/newspaper articles/obits etc. I wonder if they would have stuff like that...

If you search for it on Amazon its there but it's $79.99...they are apparently hard to come by. My mom got me my copy quite a few years ago when it was cheaper...I wonder if a place in Indiana would have them as well.

I use my copy over and over again...that link you sent me was useful as well :)

Yes the book is mostly on the Aeschliman family but it branches out quite a bit to other families that came to America from's by John H. Baumgartner.

ah yes I see the connection now! :) Our Swiss roots are very prominent in the matter which branch! lol

Do you have the book "The First 100 years"? I have found that very helpful in my genealogy research, I love reading it over and over
