|I started doing geneological research 20 some years ago when my sister gave me her research info because it was taking too much of her time. Since I retired about 10 years ago the research has filled a hole in my life created by not having a job to go to. It is like doing a giant picture puzzle, finding a bit of info that fits a hole here or there. I really enjoy the research and sharing the data that I have.|

|Patricia Apel||RE: Emma J. Foster Stogdill|
Thanks so much for writing me back. It is appreciated. It seems to be a mystery. John Foster was Ira's grandfather not his father -so maybe it was another Foster? In another document it states that Ira's father was John Ray Foster (who no one can find) Ira was married a few times; my half uncles and aunt think they are really think that Ira's father was a Stogdill but no one really knows. Ira Otis Foster was living along with Minne with John Foster and Elizabeth Francis Seaborn Foster I think in the Iowa 1895 Census. I guess the mystery will continue! If you ever decide to do a genetic test like familytreedna.org or 23andMe.org - my father has been tested so if he really was related we would know pretty quick! I am going to try and track down the marriage between your grandfather and my great grandmother. They must have gotten divorced?
Anyway - thanks so much - Patricia Foster Apel.

I have been researching my father's family for many years. My grandfather was Ira Otis Foster who lists his mother as Emma J. Foster of Lick Creek, Davis County, Iowa. He never listed who his father was but we had always heard he was a Stogdill. Do you know if Emma and Lewis Melvin ever had children? When were they married? Do Ira Otis or Minnie Foster sound familar?
Thank you in advance for any help on this

Thank you so much.

I was happy to see that this photo was labeled, but I am not sure who is who, except perhaps for J.W. The sons are not labelled for me to know which of them is which. Can you clarify that for me? I am related to both Stogdills and Spurgeons. My grandfather was the son of Morris, son of Drury.

While the town of Tabor is located in Fremont County, Iowa, Tabor Cemetery is actually in Mills county Iowa. Please check Find A Grave, Mills county, Tabor cemetery and you will find it with many persons and photos listed. It would be very nice if your entries could be changed to Mills county, Tabor Cemetery.
Thank you for considering this.

I always like to make sure my information is correct, too. I'm related to the Spurgeon family buried in the Hopkins Cemetery. I photographed the cemetery this summer (again) and was just adding the new photos to findagrave when I noticed the discrepancy. Hope that helps in your research.
