|D Barker||Shirley Joan Kirk|
Bless you bless you with all of my heart! My grandmother is Lillian Kirk Barker (died 2003) and this is the first time I've ever seen a picture of Shirley. I grew up hearing her talk about Shirley and much she admired her, missed her and how sick she got and the doctors couldn't find out how to cure her. You could tell it was very painful for the family to watch. I suspect that nowadays it would have been diagnosed as a liver or kidney problem because my grandma would tell me how she would get all bloated up in her abdomen and when she just couldn't take it any longer, they'd make the trip into town to the see the doctor and he would essentially "pop" her. My grandma said they'd make an incision and all of this clear liquid that looked like water would drain out. Once she was "empty" they'd go home and try to live as normally as possible until she bloated up again. I tend to be pretty empathetic and my grandmother was one tough cookie given that she grew up in the dust bowl and lived through the depression and WWII but when I saw how it affected her, I can only imagine! I must have been terrible for Flossie to watch her child go through that!
Thank You so much for finding and posting that!

I contacted the Nordland Cemetery manager, He had no knowledge of KJerstin. I also walked the cemetery and did not find it. Sorry

I have managed to get way behind on my Find A Grave requests and am trying to get caught up. Thanks for the photo of Mary Hedger's marker.
