I love exploring cemeteries, and now that I'm on Find-A-Grave I bring my camera.|
-- Names/people on my tree (or possibly on my tree)
-- Really old stones (died before 1900), especially if they look in fairly bad shape and I think I can get all the info off them
-- Neat-looking stones (I'm a font junkie)
-- Stones that seem to tell a story
... and then any other graves or markers associated with that one. I try to get the whole family grouping, because I can't tell you how many times I've found one member of a family plot indexed online and not all the others. Frustrating!
If a gravestone I have photographed is useful to you for historical or genealogical reasons, feel free to use my photo for nonprofit purposes, as long as you credit it to me by name.
If you are related to one of my memorials under Find-A-Grave's guidelines, I am happy to transfer its management to you. Please use the 'edit' link on the memorial so it tells me precisely who you were talking about, and include your relationship to the deceased.
When I know I'm going to a certain cemetery, I'll print off the list of photo-requests, but I don't exhaustively check every single stone: if I pass it and I notice it's a name on the list with an outstanding request, I'll fulfill it.
If you live in Chicago too and might like to go graving together, toss me an email!

Thanks for transferring maintenance of the memorials to me. Maybe I'll run into you sometime in HS cemetery -- I have more family graves to visit.

Dear Elliott, Thank you for adding my Great Aunt, Regina R (Brezinski) Zima to Find-A-Grave. She was the 13th child of Frank and Kristina Brezinski. Please add her parents to Regina's memorial.

In addition, here are Regina's birth & death dates: 19 Aug 1912-7 Aug 1964. Thanks also for permitting me to use your pictures. My mother, Adele (Hunter) Czepiel has fond memories of her Aunt Reggie.

Thank you for your suggestion. I redid the photo requests with the location information. Thanks again!

Thank you! :)
That's great! Wunder's is a neat cemetery; an interesting mix of older German headstones and more modern ones. I also enjoy Bohemian National and Zion Gardens. Practically every Chicago cemetery has a very interesting history!

Great. Many thanks for the picture of his marker, especially the close-up of his picture!

Thank you for taking the photo of Agnes' headstone. I very much appreciate your efforts - especially in this cold weather!

It does sound as though you do have the same one. I never have had details on his burial location, but can ask now that I have his obituary with thr Funeral Home info. If we both have the same man, I would appreciate your posting the tombstone photo you have. If it is a government stone he will be in the VA locator. I will check the Register of Alumni for a birth date, and check whether it matches the date on the stone. If they are the same man, I have enough effort invested to want to stand on my priority, and have links on the ckass web site.

I think we have different Alan Shures. Mine is my 1953 USNA classmate Alan Harris Shure, former Captain USMC and no relation at all to me. I have just posted his obituary as sent to me by the Alumni Association. I know nothing of Richard H. Shure. I created Alan's memorial as part of my project to collect all of my classmates in my '53 Classmates virtual cemetery. It isthe first in the list on my Find A Grave Contributor profile. I include all such memorials that I find, whoever created them, and create them only where they do not yet exist and as I receive death noices or discover them via the class USNA53.org web site, which has a link to the virtual cemetery, and which you can visit as it is not restricted.
