I am new to the research of my family and its history, although I have been interested since a teen in knowing, "who came before me". The family members I seek are from the Bays, Bogart, Hicks, Henley, Hyde, Johnson, Collins, and Michow families. I am a member of ancestry.com since June 2011. I am married and have 4 children and 1 granddaughter. This is for them! | |

 | Elijah Bays Teresa,
I think you have a very good point that Clarissa may be the Bays children's mother. Looking back at the order in which the children are listed makes me think she is. Here is why: all but one of the Cooksey children are listed first, then the Bays children, then a baby named Cornelius Cooksey. The only logical reason they would be listed in that order is his children first, hers second, theirs last. A way to check it out is to find some of the Cooksey children in the 1880 or later censuses and compare where their mother was born. Clarissa was born in Ohio according to the 1850 and 1860 Censuses. Interestingly, Clarissa is in Denton County in 1860 with the Bays children except Joseph listed with her but no Cooksey children.

 | Elijah Bays Teresa,
I am not related to the Bays family but I have done a little research.
Joseph, Joel, Margaret, and Elijah Bays (spelled Baize in the record) are living with the Andrew Cooksey family in Johnson Co, Arkansas in the 1850 US Census. It would appear that both of Elijah's parents are dead. In the 1860 Denton Co, TX Census, Joel, Margaret, and Elijah are living with Clarissa Cooksey, Andrew's wife. In the 1880 Denton County, TX Census, Elijah's father's birthplace is given as Virginia, mother's as Ohio. Clarissa Cooksey was born in Ohio according to the 1880 US Census, Denton Co, TX. Therefore, I feel very confident that Clarissa Cooksey was Elijah's mother's sister. Therefore, the only hint I can give you is to find a marriage license for Andrew Cooksey and a Clarissa. Good hunting!

 | RE: Allie Mae Kelly Sure - you are welcome to use the photos for your family history project.
The large KELLY stone is the family stone marker for the plot; Allie Mae and W.L. (Doc) are the two buried there.

 | RE: Cape Family Hi Teresa - How are things going? The" Hix" and the "Hicks" are all the same family. Cape is pronounced just like the cape you would wear. And yes,the "Cape's, Bays' & Hicks' are all interrelated very much. Sometimes it's hard to keep them straight. Thx Pat | | | Beth Sanders
 | RE: Dr. Francis Marion Hicks Hi Teresa.
It is very possible that the birthdate for this person is incorrect. My information for the memorial came from an old cemetery transcript which has proven to be sometimes inaccurate. I am not related to this person. I would suggest that you contact the San Antonio Genealogical Society at (210) 342-5242. They may be able to help you further. | | | MMM
 | RE: Joseph Bays You can use the picture for any of your family trees; I don't mind. I am just glad I could help by taking the picture. Have a great day.Added by MMM on Sep 30, 2012 7:35 AM | | | Louis Roth
