RE: Catharine Bugh Gundrum correction
Hi Matha
I just checked my cemetery records (put out by the Lycoming county genealogical society) and there are abt 38 people buried at Hughesville Pleasant Hill-with the name of "Fox". If you want a list of them I will gladly type them up.

The Fox/Fauchs/Faux name is intertwined into our tree and I have tried on occasion to tie them together. For example, Amos Fox married Anna Kneisel(Nicely, my 4th g grandmother's sister)

Joseph Nicely, my 4th g grandfather, married Rebecca Fauchs(Fox)(1808-1888)

Mary Isabella Calwell(Caldwell) married George D Fox (1/28/1859-5/8/1922 buried at Milton, Pa)There are several "Fox"buried at Milton

George S Fox(1773-9/3/1818 buried at Turbotville, Pa) m. Mary stahlnecker

Adam Fox 1814-1889 buried at Milton I stuck on my tree to see if I could tie him in but could not.

John Fox abt 1780 married Maria Hartranft b. 12/16/1784 and had John, Rebecca, David and Allen.

RE: Norman Bugh
Thank you for the info on Catherine! I have not looked at the Bugh family in depth for many years, and had no info on her except what the other researcher told me. Where they got the name "Griersburg" she supposedly married, I do not know.

I live maybe 10 miles from the cemetery at Hughesville, and will definitely head back this spring (its 20 degrees here with snow today -brr!) and will take headstone pics and add them to Find A Grave. If there are any other surnames besides Fox you are looking for or want pics of, let me know. I have a complete listing of that cemetery in book form.

Its interesting about her second husband, Christian Gray. My mother's maiden name is Gray. The Grays from the Muncy area are a mystery and don't connect into our family. At least, not yet. Our Grays are well researched to the immigrant ancestor.

RE: Norman Bugh
Hi Martha
I know what the problem is-the person who added the memorial on Find A Grave transcribed it incorrectly. Norman Bugh died March 1844, not March 1811. I took the picture at the cemetery, and if you enlarge the picture you can make out the date as 1844.

Daniel, born 8/16/1819 is definitely the youngest child of John & Elizabeth Moser Bugh. Another Bugh researcher contacted me years ago with information on the family.

1. JOHN1 BUGH1, 2 was born on 22 Sep 1784 in Berks Co., PA near the Schuylkill River1, 2. He died on 14 May 1868 in Hughesville, Lycoming Co., Pa.. He married ELIZABETH MOSER. She was born on 18 Dec 1783 in Pottstown, Montgomery Co., Pa.. She died on 22 Dec 1867 in Hughesville,
Lycoming Co., Pa..
John Bugh1, 2 lived in Delaware, Northumberland, Pennsylvania in 1850 (Age: 65). He was counted in the census in 1850 in Northumberland County, Pa. I belive this is how his daughters Susanna and Elizabeth ended up marrying into my family, who lived in Delaware Twp. He also lived in Wolf, Lycoming, County, Pennsylvania in 1860 (Age in 1860: 75). He was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, Lycoming Co., Pa.

Notes for John Bugh:
A grandson wrote that his Bugh ancestral line was from Germany having fled Holland abt. 1685 and to America abt 1707 settling in Berks Co.He also claims the original spelling was "Von Bugh".

Elizabeth Moser was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, Lycoming Co., Pa.

John Bugh and Elizabeth Moser had the following children:

2. i. JOHN2 BUGH was born in 1811. He died in 1894 in Lockport, NY. He married EVA BENNAGE. She was born in 1820 in Union Co., Pa. She died in 1898.

3. ii. HENRY AARON BUGH was born on 16 Feb 1812 in Schuylkill Co., Pa. He died on 21 Feb 1892 in Lockport, NY. He married MARY BENNAGE. She was born on 6 Apr 1822 in Union Co., Pa. She died on 17 Jul 1895 in Lockport, NY.

4. iii. ELIZABETH BUGH3 was born on 02 Feb 1814 in Snyders, Schuylkill Co., Pa3. She died on 16 Aug 1854 in Delaware Township, Northumberland Co., Pa.. She married Henry C Hartranft, son of Andrew Hartranft and Mary Magdalena Frankenberger on 7 Aug 1834 (Rev J Sheetz). He was born on 14 Jan 1810 in Montgomery County, Pa4. He died on 26 Dec 1882 in Delaware Township, Northumberland Co., Pa..

5. iv. ABRAHAM BUGH was born on 09 Feb 1816 in Union Co., Pa. He died on 16 Nov 1887 in Hughesville, Lycoming Co., Pa.. He married MARY FRANTZ. She was born on 07 Jul 1820. She died on 05 Nov 1894 in Hughesville, Lycoming Co., Pa..

6. v. GEORGE BUGH was born on 07 Jul 1817. He died on 24 Mar 1888. He married MARY ARNOT. She was born on 13 Jul 1821. She died on 09 Feb 1867.

7. vi. DANIEL BUGH was born on 16 Aug 1819 in White Deer Township, Union Co., Pa. He died on 02 Dec in Cherokee Co. IA. He married SUSANNAH LOCKARD. She was born on 21 Jan 1824 in Lycoming Co., Pa.. She died on 06 Sep 1905 in Cherokee Co. IA.

8. vii. SUSANNAH BUGH. She died in Jul 1861. She married William Wilson Burrows, son of Lansing (Lanson) Burrows (Burris) and Mary Daugherty on 24 Apr 1845. He was born on 11 May 1821 in Union Co., Pa5, 6, 7. He died on 22 Apr 1899 in Dewart, Northumberland Co., Pa.. (interesting note-I have Hartranft Civil War letters inquiring about William Burrows, who would have been there uncle by marriage, and who served in the war. I have yet to locate her grave)

viii. MARY BUGH. She married DAVID KRAMER.

ix. CATHERINE BUGH. She married GRIERSBURG

Many researchers do not list Norman because he cannot be found in any census records. Daniel could have been visiting his parents in Pa when his child died...he may have named a later child the same name in honor of the one who died (morbid to me but I have run into this many times) Interesting.

RE: Norman Bugh
Hi Martha
Daniel Bugh's sister, Elizabeth (1814-1854)was the first wife of my husband's GG grandfather, Henry Hartranft. Daniel's other sister, Susannah Bugh (b. ? d. 1861)was the first wife of my GG grandfather! Crazy, right?!

So, I have info on their parents, John & Elizabeth Moser Bugh, and Daniel's siblings. Hosever, I do not have much on Daniel since they moved from Pa.

I do have a letter written by Abraham Bugh(Daniel's brother) dated 1874 which you may find interesting and maybe can explain! I never understood who they were referring to in the letter, but your last name explains it (maybe!) It reads:

Feb 26, 1874

Mr. Henry Hartranft
Dear sir
We are all well at present. I want to inquire of you one thing. Did your children give Mathew Fox a power of attorney in reference to the estate of Father's. He says he has a power of attorney from them. Let me know by return mail and oblige.

Yours truly
Abraham Bugh

Do you know who Mathew Fox was? I can send you a scan of the original if you wish, and I may have a few more "Bugh" writings-I will have to check.

I guess we are related-twice! You can email me directly-I will share what I have.
