Hi Helen,
May I use your picture of Lilla for my tree? She is my 3rd great aunt and it is always a gift to find pictures of descendants.

RE: William Burns
Thank you for your helpful responses to my questions about William Burns.

I saw the same photo of "William Burns" on about a year ago as being a photo of the William Burns of Williamson County. I had seen that photo previously on the internet as a photo of a William Burns from another part of the U.S. (Ohio, I believe) together with a photo of his home. I contacted the person who had posted the photo on his family tree as William Burns of Williamson County and after some investigation he determined that it was in fact a different William Burns and not the William Burns of Williamson County. On that basis, I did not add it to my family tree.

Wilson County, TN (where the city of Lebanon is located) is one of three counties in TN where I believe the Burns brothers may have come from; however, my only basis for that is the fact that some of the families the Burns family was closely associated with (including through church) came from Wilson County, TN. There are tax records in Bedford County, TN that suggest the Burns brothers (or at least two of them) were in that county. Military bounty records suggest that Absolom Burns (who I believe was one of the Burns brothers) was drafted and married in Montgomery County, TN. I am still trying to figure out where the Burns were in TN.

It was extremely difficult sorting out the children of William Burns, but I found a deed in Williamson County that allowed me to identify most if not all of Williams many children and inlaws. I would be glad to send you my notes on that if you have not come across that deed yet.

William Burns

I have been researching the Burns brothers of Franklin County (Williamson County), Illinois for several years and have run across some of your very helpful research findings over the years.

I just noticed the photo you posted of of William Burns on Find A Grave (Mt. Zion Cemetery in Corinth, IL). I would be grateful if you could provide me information regarding where you came across the photo and how you were able to authenticate it as being of the William Burns of Williamson County, IL. I have been searching for years for photos of at least one of the Burns brothers and would like to add it to my genealogy album if I can authenticate it.

Also, in a genealogy in the Williamson County Library that I believe you prepared the birthplace of John Wesley Burns is listed as Lebanon, TN. I would be very interested in learning the source of this information as well.

Rev William Burns
Hi Helen I am a direct descendent Of William Burns. He is my GGG Grandfather. I was so thrilled to find your resources. I have spent many many hours trying to research past Rev. Williams to no avail. Just wondering if you have Family history beyond him. I would love to have a personal chat with you sometime. I live in Idaho originally from Missiouri. Not sure just how to use this site for now.
Thanks so much for sharing. I am happy to do the same. My Philosophy is; "to save it, share it".
