Gravestone Photo Permission
I am happy to see that you photographed the gravestone of Decie Alford in Owens Cemetery (Memorial# 40870317).

I would like to add this gravestone photo to the (non-profit) Alford American Family Association's collection of Alabama Obituaries, where her obituary is included. You can see the the current collection at

May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, I will add this to the photo caption:

Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—
Permission granted by the photographer, Kelly Rhodes

And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!

Best regards,
Pamela Alford Thompson (Find A Grave #47195155)

confederate marker
Thanks for the picture of Fleming Atkins Goolsby's confederate marker. It has been several years since I have been to the graveside and did not know it was there. Can't wait to tell Dad!

I've always wondered why they used to bury people under these huge flat markers. I guess that was before the use of underground containers began.

I have visited many old cemeteries where they didn't use these and the sink holes can be pretty bad.

Thank you so much for taking the time to photograph these graves for me. I live in Texas and we have never seen the graves since they placed the stones so I appreciate it very much and so does my mother.
