Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a native of Taylors, SC, near Greenville, SC in Greenville County, SC. I now live in Johns Creek, GA (also called Alpharetta, GA) which is in North Metro Atlanta, GA.

My father was John Milton Smith, who grew up in the Highland community of Northern Greenville County, frequently referred to as the "Dark Corner." I have a number of primary source materials from the area and still have distant relatives that live there.

My mother is Shirley Ann Grant, who grew up in Taylors, SC. Her father was Horace Wesley Grant whose family was known to live in McRae, GA as well as Toccoa, GA and in Greenville County, SC.

The names I have traced in my father's genealogy are: Smith, Robertson, Lindsey, Center, Moon, Walker, Stewart, Gosnell

The names I have traced in my mother's genealogy are: Grant, Marshall, Patterson, Caminade, Farmer, Greene, Free, and Walker

I continue to discover more ancestors and so far have traced my father's family back to Lunenburg, VA - Gideon Moon, b 1740, d 1790.

I also trace genealogical records for my wife's family - Vicki Aronson Smith.

My wife's father was Clarence "Cal" William Aronson who died in Woodbury, Vermont. The names I have traced in my wife's father's genealogy are: (Vermont) Aronson and Corliss

My wife's mother was Betty Jane Walters Aronson who died in Charleston, South Carolina. The names I have traced in my wife's mother's genealogy are: (NC and SC) Walters, Clemmons, Harper, Ward, Spivy, Long, and Sasser

RE: Photo Thanks!
You are quite welcome!! I have some other Ackerman headstone photos and visit the UDC cemetery in St George sporadically (lots of Ackerman burials there. So if any in particular are needed let me know.
There is no Death Certificate with DHEC for Elizabeth Ackerman Walters. Do you know a family member who may have a copy?

RE: William M. Grant
I do not have any information on the father of William M. Grant or where he is buried. Good luck to you though in finding this information.

RE: Lieutenant William Grant
There was nothing that I could read on the foot stone to his grave. The local information that I had found before hunting for his grave listed him as being the only one buried there. There were no other markers around and nothing that looked like it may have been a marker at some point in time. (not even spots that looked like there was someone there but just no marker) So I can't say for certain but it does not appear that anyone else had been buried there.

Farmer/Free family lines
My maiden name is Wood, and I have traced back my lineage to James P Farmer. I am greatly interested in communicating with you about that side of your family. I am fairly new to all of the genealogy tools and things. I would be interested in seeing what information you have and would certainly share any that I have with you. Thanks for your help.

RE: John Center
Mr. David Smith, I have no information about John Center that I can be sure about. There were more than a few men named John Center in North Greenville, SC. A John Center lived on Center Road near Glassy Mountain. But, as far as I know he was not the one who married Hettie.
