 | Amanda Cogswell Skinner JoAnn,
I see you left flowers and a note on the Find A Grave memorial of Amanda Hulda Cogswell and D.C. Skinner. I am not realted, but have an interest in the Skinners. I grew up in Lincoln County, Kansas, where the Skinners lived before moving to Colorado. I know some of their Skinner cousins. Amanda's 2nd husband, D. C. Skinner was among the every earliest settlers in that area of Kansas. In 1868 he was recruited as one of Col. Forsyth's Scouts, following an Indian raid. He missed the train with 7 others, and thus missed the famous battle of Beecher Isalnd, Colorado, but was on of the Scouts that lead the relief column to the island. Really great history. If you would be interested, please feel free to contact me. Mike Day, meili416@sbcglobal.net | | |
