RE: Elihu and Rachel Tyree
Deb, you don't think Elihu is buried in Gooch Cemetery, Kings Mountain, Lincoln County
Kentucky? The headstone shows his name and Rachel's, so I assumed they were both married there.

I'd be interested to see your photos of Watty Caudill and Kings Mountain cemeteries. Watty Caudill was very much overgrown when I was there, and it was late with an on-going thunderstorm when I took my pictures. Hopefully yours are better! I haven't visited Kings Mountain.

Good Luck!
Greg

RE: Elihu and Rachel Tyree
I think you and I are at about the same place in our knowledge of the family. My brother Curtis Brown actually compiled virtually everything I have on our paternal (Brown) side. I have concentrated on our maternal side, but when Curt passed away I inherited the responsibility for both sides of the family. Needless to say, with real life offering little time for genealogy, I've not added very much to Curt's research. I don't believe I have Amos' birth records, but will double check for you.

It is interesting that Y-DNA testing shows us more closely related to Cain/Kane/O'Kane than to any other Brown (that does not trace to Valentine), but our nearest Kane connection is several generations removed from Valentine. Seems to be something missing that perhaps only time and a larger Y-DNA sample will uncover.

Good luck. I'll keep my eyes open for anything that might help you.

RE: Elihu and Rachel Tyree
Hi Deb,
Elihu and Rachel Tyree were my great grandparents as well, but through Amos' brother Cleveland (CV), making us second cousins. Am I correct in assuming you would like to have more on Elihu's ancestors, or do you need more of his descendants? I have the Brown line back to the original immigrant ancestor from Ireland, Valentine Brown. Letcher County (KY) also has a great historical/genealogical collection that includes much about this line. Let me know just what you need and I'll be happy to send it to you.
