Cowing, Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center KS
I saw your query to Mark Utley about
J. S. Cowling. I believe it is the infant of J(ohn) S. Cowing, as it appears in the online index of Greenwood Cemetery. Others buried in the same plot are John S. (buried Oct. 13, 1921), Martha (buried Oct. 25, 1942) and Eva May, an infant, (buried Aug. 4, 1891).

John Scott Cowing actually died Oct. 12, 1921 but the person who entered the memorials on Findagrave used the date on the online index for Greenwood, which is actually the burial date, not the death date. Let me know if you need his obit.

Not related to any of the above.

RE: Irving cemeteries.
Good Morning Terri,
As far as I know there was only one Irving Cemetery. I can remember when I was young we would go to the Irving Cemetery as my Great Grandparents were buried there. They were moved to the Greenwood Cemetery. There is the Antioch Cemetery that would be East of Irving. There were probably family cemeteries located close that are no longer used.

RE: Marvin A. Goodman
Hi Terri,

I just got off the phone with the Blue Rapids Library and she found an obituary for Marvin Goodman. She is mailing it to me. Hopefully there will be some information that you do not have. I can scan it and send it to you via email or mail it to you.

RE: Marvin A. Goodman
Hi Terri,
I wanted to let you know I have received your message. I will contact the Librarian at the Blue Rapids Library and see if there is any information there. They have a name index of names that appeared in the Blue Rapids Times newspaper. I suspect that the Irving newspaper at that time might have something. This would have to be ordered from the State.
My wife has been pretty ill so it might take me just a little while. I will defiantly get back to you.. Hopefully I will have more time now that the Holiday Season is over and my wife is home from the hospital...

Darrell Brooks is the only one I know of thats does go to the library. But I don't know how offen he is in town. The Frankfort paper doesn't carry all the obits all I can do is keep an eye out for the name.

Sorry Terri but I don't at the moment I am adding obits to local cemeteries and I'm working on 1949 now. If you might have a more complete date of death. The month would be very helpful cuts the search down by 11 months it takes 5 or 6 hours to get through a year of microfilm.

RE: Loch (or Lock) View Cemetery
The two Lockviews come from a 1980's transcription of Oahu graveyards.

As I understand it, Lockview B is from the transcription of surviving headstones. Lockview A is the result of a search of the State Archives. I don't know how those records are organized, so perhaps some individuals were missed. (Perhaps it only listed those who had headstones.)

But the next step in your quest would be the state archives.

Hi Terri,
I almost missed your notes on the photo request!
I have uploaded pics of Earl and Marie Hammer. Was Marie's maiden name Kemper?
Also, I've looked closer at the close-up of Jessie's stone and I think maybe the year is 1903 instead of 1905. My notes when I was at the cem taking pics also indicate 1903.

Please let me know what you think.
