I am working on a lot of research of my family's ancestral records and heritage. Most of the entries I add will be of my and my husband's family and relatives. If there is ever a question about an entry, please let me know, as I may be able to help.

Hi There Marissa! Okay... the Historical Society has confirmed that Irene Bennett is, indeed, interred in the spot beneath her marker. There are 3 unmarked graves on her north side, and 2 on the south. They speculate that since neither of her parents are listed in the cemetery books, it's possible that she is interred next to them. I hope all this has helped!

Hi There Marissa, I wanted to let you know that I talked to my friends over at the Historical Society concerning Irene Bennett. They shared the following information (although I know you already have most of this):

Irany (Irene, Arany) Bennett was married to Samuel B. Crow (#33303840) in Forsyth County 1848. They lived in the Chestatee area until their deaths. He is buried at Bethel Cemetery on Bethel Road with other family members. They had 11 children. He died in 1908 and she in 1910. Her parents were possibly Wm. & Darcus Bennett.

They are going to go out to the cemetery to probe to find the exact burial place for Irene (to make sure her stone is in the right place) and to find possible other burials around her. They will not have the name of those who might be interred beside her, but postulate that it's possible she is interred next to her parents.

It may be a few weeks before they are able to do this. I'll let you know...

Berry Bennett, Sr - I'm sorry but he is also my 3rd great grandfather, so I will not be transferring him. I'll be happy to add any information that you want.

Hi There Marissa,

I don't know of any survey that actually mapped the cemetery prior to John Salter's book. I think you should call the Forsyth County Historical Society at (678) 455-7260. They are located in the old school house at 101 School Street. They *might* be able to help. I'm sorry... I wish I had a better answer.

I'm so sorry, Marissa, that I'm just now seeing your message. My computer has crashed since I took the photos at Salem, so I've lost them. However, according to John Salter's Forsyth County Cemeteries book, the marker is on row 16, marker #22. He states the starting position as "Row 1 is a single marker immediately after entering the parking lot. The rows progress along the edge of the parking lot southwesterly with marker numbering from south to north". Again, I'm sorry I missed your message. Please feel free to give me a call - 678-267-0542 - and I'll be more than happy to meet you there to find the marker.
