Hi Donna, I descend through Benjamin and Sarah Hamilton Burch' s son John who married Mary J.A. Cynthia Clark....
I don't have anything on Eli sikes parents. But would love see what you have on Burches.... I don't have any descendants of your Charlotte and Eli....
Are you on Ancestry.com?

I took photos of all the markers in the family plot and posted them accordingly. Robert is not buried in the plot. I have a set of Carroll County Cemetery Books list all graves in the Carroll County, GA...Robert is not listed at any cemetery. Sorry,

That's the only Salem in Tift Co. that I know of.
There's many slabs out there with no markings and a lot of funeral home markers that are destroyed. There's even some graves with just wooden boards to mark them. I'll keep looking each time I go out there though.

You're welcome Donna. Simon is indeed buried beside Winnie. We didn't find William L. and Elizabeth Bozeman.

Hi, I see that you have discovered what I did...two J.W. Starnes marker applications. Both of the same name and company and regiment but each applied for at a different time. Also the death dates and addresses are different. It is obvious that each grave has a different person in it. I can only assume that both families claimed the same Civil War Service Records from Company I , 20th SC. I am about to believe than only one of these two men with the same name was actually a veteran of the 20th SC. one is not?

I just finished adding all of the ones I saw in that plot that did not already have a picture. I added 5 or 6 photos. A number of stones in that general area outside of the Gunter plot were not readable, but I can go back and take a look sometime soon. St. Davids is the church I was raised in and I work only a couple of miles from there as well. Will be happy to take a look. And I believe that the church has GPS coordinates of the graves if I get stumped. If I don't find the others easily, I can ask the church office for help.

Hi, I have transferred this memorial to you. To try to answer your question, I don't remember another Starnes in the cemetery as I was only looking for markers for Confederate Veterans. I might suggest an answer to why his marker is placed here...The person who ordered it my be a descendant and did not know the original burial site? Or could there be two of the same name and there are actually two separate burials? I would really like to hear more of you conclusions, sounds interesting.
