RE: KOHL Line
Hi sorry for taking so long to get your e-mail. yes the Kohls are my family. My great grandparents are Solomon and Lauretta Kohl. My grandmother was their daughter Sarah Edith. My dad Edward visited them in Texas very frequent. He told me some sweet and funny stories. Have a blessed evening.

Shugars & Clingham (Clingan)
I just realized that when you originally contacted me you gave Adeline's name as Clingan but then in yesterday's e-mail you gave her name as Clingham. I assume that the correct spelling is Clingan. I am familiar with a few members of the Clingan family and I do know where one of their homeplaces was located. What is interesting is that I looked up the name Clingham in the Virginia Citizen using the Advanced Search box and two references came up for Adeline Shugar's sons. One was John Clingham & the other was Harry Clingham. She was listed as Mrs. C. A. Sugars and Mrs. Charles Sugars. I found that in looking up other names in the Virginia Citizen that the writers didn't always spell the names correctly and obviously that can make searching for some individuals difficult.
I will continue to do some searching for you when I have a chance.

RE: Charles & Addie Shugars
I live in the town of Kilmarnock, but I had never heard of the name Shugars or Clingham until you contacted me. The closest name to Clingham that I am familiar with are the Clingans. If I come across any other information on the Shugars or Clinghams I will certainly let you know. Charles Shugars is mentioned at least two other times in the Virginia Citizen that I was telling you about, so if you put Shugars name in the search box you will see him mentioned. Even though I told you that the Shugars were not listed in the cemetery book for Lancaster County, they may be buried in the area or even in the town limits. A small part of Kilmarnock is actually in Northumberland County. Once again, if I find out anything else I will contact you.

Charles & Addie Shugars
I found a little something about Charles & Addie Shugars that you may be interested in. I found their wedding announcement in an old newspaper that was put on microfilm & can be viewed on the Library of Congress website. Here is how to look at it: In your website search line type in Virginia Citizen, Irvington, Va. That will bring up a list of choices. Click on About Virginia Citizen (Irvington, Va.) 1891-1921. That will take you to the website. You will see a box describing the Virginia Citizen. In the little blue space at the top of the box click on Browse Issues. That will take you to another box showing calendars of issues for 1900. In the year box type 1904 & when that year comes up click on July 15 on the July calendar. Four pages will show up. Click on page/image 3. The page may be a little fuzzy so you may have to use your refresh button to clear it up. You can left click with your mouse or use the plus (+) sign to enlarge the page, then holding down the left button you can move the page around. Finally, in about the middle of the page in the 4th column from the left you will see SOME WEDDINGS. The Shugars' wedding announcement is the very first one under that heading.
I know this is a lot of information to share with you just to see a one sentence wedding announcement, but you may also be able to find information about other family members from this website. You can use the Advanced Search box near the top of the website page to look up other people, articles, etc.

RE: Harry M. Clingan
I have gone through that cemetery and looked at every grave marker there, and I have photographed most of the headstones/markers. I can say with certainty that there is no grave markers for Adeline or Charles Shugars, however, I have been told that there are unmarked graves in a section of the cemetery, but I doubt there are any records of who is buried in those graves. I have a book that list all the known cemeteries and graves in Lancaster County, Va. and there are no Shugars listed in there. I am sorry I am not any help to you. I wish you the best in your search for them.
